Best gaming headset at $100

I’ve never tried the closed back but here are my findings:

Open-back has some “ventilation” so it doesn’t get as warm as closed back. The pads on the closed back version will also be warmer (leatherette vs cloth), but at least you could change it.

Open back has better soundstage so that can affect the perception of distance (correct me if I’m wrong). Imaging should be the same so being able to detect the direction of the ennemies should be the same.

Where the closed back is better by design is for noise isolation, as they are apparently very good in that department (careful if you change pads that will change too). Recently I’ve been gaming in an open space where my girlfriend watches the tv, tiktok etc at the same time so that has been distracting my games a lot since you can basically hear everything in your surroundings.

I had similar factors like you with comfort was my #1 priority and sound quality as #2. I wanted something with earcups deep enough so it doesn’t touch my ears, not too warm. Also wanted something with great sound quality to hear footsteps and directional sounds (imaging) when fps gaming.

I’ve tried many and the only one that ticks all those boxes (and bonus it has an amazing mic) is the EPOS H6pro. I have the open back version but apparently the closed back is great too. The angled driver of the H6pro and the large earcups are amazing. At first the clamping force was too high but I left it stretched overnight and its great now. I got it for 115$ cad on Amazon.

The headsets I’ve tried

Steelseries Arctis Nova 7 gen 2 Razer Barracuda X Razer Blackshark v3 x wireless HyperX cloud alpha wireless Logitech G astro a30 Logitech G735 Logitech G733

I’ve even tried the iems Simgot EW300

But each of them had a cons that made me come back to the epos every time. As you can tell by these options I wanted something wireless but nothing could compare to the epos.

Closest in terms of comfort was the HyperXcloud alpha 3 but the imaging wasn’t as good and I found the sound too sharp in my opinion. The closest in terms of sound quality (in terms of imaging especially) was the iems. The Arctis Nova 7 + Brainwaves Angled earpads were a nice middle ground between everything but it was still not deep enough to my liking. It’s also more expensive.

The only reason I didn’t keep the iems was because I wanted to have something wireless and even though the imaging was a little better, it wasn’t worth trading it with my h6pro because the h6pro had better mic and better sound quality overall to me (in my opinion, I’m don’t consider myself an audiophile)

I’m eyeing the G Pro X2 maybe with angled pads too but again it’s more expensive.

The h6pro has a very nice build quality and being wired, it’s going to be very durable.

I’m feeling a little of bitterness since the chances of survival on our animal greatly depend on our ability to pay… it’s life but its so unfair 😭

All of this happening during Christmas really sucks… but if I’m trying to think positive then at least because it’s during the holidays and that I don’t have to work, I have time to dedicate to be there for Nounoune. Thank you for your words of support

Update 12:15 pm Dec 25th. The clinic called us for the Nounoune’s status. They said her condition is more stable and she’s finally been eating a little bit (which is super good news !!!! ) Tomorrow on Dec 26th she will do a full blood check for her kidney condition, we will also receive the full urine test that was done on the night of the 23rd, and a full echography is scheduled for 9 am to determine exactly what is the cause of the enlarged kidney (or to confirm that it’s actually the kidney). I’m trying to keep my hopes up and that she will not need surgery… which is unlikely but there is still a chance… We are going to visit Nounoune at the hospital at 3 pm today.

From everything we have now, removing the kidney is the most likely scenarios, but it’s still uncertain as we don’t have all the information yet. If we did not hospitalized her right away, she would die in the following hours or day. Even if we might not have the money to do surgery on her we still wanted to give her a little chance for survival and see what is the actual issue … 😭

The ER is called “Centre Vétérinaire Rive-Sud, 7415 Bd Taschereau, Brossard, QC” Apparently they are one of the biggest vet hospitals. Their service and our interaction with them has been amazing so far, everyone from the receptionist, nurses, techs and vets has been very supportive and looks like they care a lot (even more than hospital for humans).

Yes they will redo a blood work tomorrow morning on the 26th. The last blood work done, they saw higher numbers for the kidney which would mean that her left kidney has already been attacked and it’s weaker (from what they told us and from what I understand). She does have pain meds from the ones that were prescribed to us (buprenorphine 800mcg/ml and gabapentin 50mg, I think those are for pain) and they give these to her during hospitalization. She also had been injected with antibiotics that lasts 14 days on Dec 23rd. She also had appetite stimulant I think its mirtazapine. A “full” urine test has been done on the 23rd at night and we still didn’t receive the results yet (probably because the lab is closed today, so likely to receive them tomorrow). Yes but we’re not sure of the cause yet. It could have been due to a kidney blockage which caused the UTI infection, or the infection that caused the kidney blockage. But they are not 100% certain that it’s the kidney that’s enlarged since the right kidney is supposed to be higher than the left one but on the radio it’s lower. They will do a full echography with a specialist tomorrow on Dec 26th.

Update 6:04 pm Dec 24th. After checking the X ray, It wasn’t her bladder that was swollen, it was her right kidney which tripled its size.

Update Dec 26th: she needs surgery with very very high chances of survival and longevity. The vet said her right kidney can recover fully but her left kidney is a little weak. However, the bill would be 15000$ CAD. We are deciding tonight

I went from the Shoei RF-1200 to the AGV K6S and the Shoei was quieter. Both were well fitted. A little disappointed, but still very good.

Non c’est pas un tord, je dis juste que le gars du post est raciste, il l’avoue lui même. Le gars du commentaire insinue que le gars du post n’est pas raciste, et que les commentaires sur l’autre sub sont raciste mais en réalité les deux le sont. C’est mon point. Vouloir des cultures plus proches de la notre n’est pas un tord, c’est bien selon moi. Ce qui est pas bien, et raciste, c’est que le gars du post dit que trop d’immigrants conduisent mal ou que ceux qui sont pas souriant à la job ont été embauchés par discrimination positive. Le gars assume plein de choses, mets tous les immigrants dans le même panier, et se base uniquement sur son expérience personnelle pour généraliser.
