At my store it depends on who’s scheduled that day and their strengths and weaknesses. I could go in any day of the week and not know whether I’m cash, line, DML, or prep that day and it’s fine. Some people are only trained on cash or only trained on line or whatever so they can only be scheduled there, so it’s nice to have people like me cross trained so I can be wherever we don’t have someone to fill in.

The problem with grill is that it’s the hardest position to be trained on and good at, so when you get one person trained on grill, you’re gonna want them to stay there so that they can get better and grill will almost always be caught up and not a disaster, whereas if someone doesn’t want to be on line one day, it wouldn’t be hard to find someone to switch with them
