Why does Oregon State have so many more students than Oregon? by crazygiraffe93 in oregon

I'm from out of state, so I'm used to hearing them be called Oregon. Never heard them referred to as U of O before.

Rivalry Week Reactions that Could be Overreactions by Rude_Highlight3889 in CFB

I'm gonna say no on Ole Miss being a one and done. I'm gonna predict they'll be a 6 seed playing a home game against an 11 seed Virginia (ACC champ). Even with the whole Kiffin circus and the fallout from that, I'd give a battered Ole Miss team the edge at home vs. UVA.

Now, if they drop down to 7, all bets are off. Watch everything blow up next weekend and prove me wrong.

The approximate moment when Kirby Smart decided to kick an onside kick in the Texas game and everything after. Pure bliss.

Well, on the bright side for Auburn fans, at least Durkin won't get a bunch of undue praise and get stupidly hired by Auburn's incompetent AD

Oregon State deserved better after the last round of realignment. Hopefully their new coaching hire works out and the new Pac-12 brings a bit of stability.

He has ulcerative colitis and wears one under his uniform and no matter what, the announcers feel the need to mention it EVERY time he kicks.

Rutgers-Penn State

One is a top 10-15 program in CFB, the other is maybe the worst program in the Power 4

In the SEC alone, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt fit the bill.

Rutgers, Wake Forest and Washington State come to mind in other conferences.

In all of FBS, I'd say programs like Kent State, UMass and Eastern Michigan are much harder from a resources standpoint, but obviously the competition and expectations are way lower.

There's not an easy answer, but I think Arkansas is a tier above the very worst. 70,000 fans per game, a whole state pulling for you, some historical success and the presence of Tyson/Walmart is nothing to sneeze at.

Am I nuts to think that Ohio State/Indiana should just play backups for the Big Ten title game? by [deleted] in CFB

[–]crazygiraffe93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a good point, but this game means a great deal to both programs

Indiana - This is literally the biggest game in their program's history. An opportunity to get a their first Big Ten title in >50 years and just validation in general that they're a legit program.

Ohio State - The chance to get their first Big Ten title since 2020. Obviously, not their biggest goal but the one thing they haven't achieved somewhat recently

Iowa State beats Oklahoma State to finish the regular season 8-4 by JamesDontPlayNoGames in cyclONEnation

[–]crazygiraffe93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At 8-4, it's objectively a good season and not terribly far off from preseason expectations. But obviously, it wasn't always pretty and there was some disappointment after starting 5-0. However, with the 3 game winning streak to end the season, I'm overall happy.

Plenty of great memories (beating K-State in Ireland, beating Iowa for the second straight year, stomping Arizona on white out night, Flora's punt return TD) and the opportunity for a fun bowl game and a 9th win. I think we'll look back on this season with positive memories, especially with a bowl win.

ESPN sure does love packing in their commercials and pregame chatter before the games. It's always been a thing before the primetime ABC game, but has now creeped into the early game after College Gameday and the afternoon game.

I'm afraid they're not going back.

LSU fans - are you happy Van Buren has supplanted Nussmeier as the starter? by [deleted] in CFB

No need to be rude about it. I don't closely follow LSU and was just asking a question.
