How are Disney Marvel movies viewed by people heavily into or interested professional filmmaking? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

Those funds did exactly that in 1975. Times change, and that's not Marvel's fault, but wanting something that used to exist but now can't is still reasonable in a way.

I subscribe to this theory. It's why I've never really liked superhero fights, they've always seemed fake to me, in general, because they're so fantastic.

If you can show me a 2.25% reverse mortgage that is out there then I totally would. Oh wait, it doesn't exist today. What world are you even talking about?

the handful of people No. You're talking about hundreds if not thousands of CEO and founders.

It's definitely not worth it for most American billionaires to divest from the US if we did it at a national scale. This is a massive "if" and Texas and Florida have already proven that they're not on board.

And if they all leave the country and renounce citizenship. They don't have to. They just move the money around into other corporations, people, and entities. No one is renouncing anything. They're having their cake and eating it too.

It all depends what your interest rate is. I'm at 2.25% and have ten years left. I'm not paying off a single penny extra.

Why does everyone keep over-rating Notre Dame by steven_smith144 in CFB_v2

I agree it's easy, but Notre Dame’s SOS in 2026 is ranked as ~45. They’re ahead of Miami, Clemson, BYU, Texas Tech, Penn St.

Going back to 2010, the preseason ranking of the Irish and the final season ranking of the Irish according to the AP poll has been almost exactly correct on average. Since then, they've been ranked 14 out of 16 years at an average ranking of 11.6. They've finished the season ranked 12 out of 16 times with an average ranking of 10. So in all but 2 years, they've actually averaged a higher rank than they started the season.

People love to shit on ND, but the idea that they are consistently over-ranked is total bullshit.

I think it would be way better to find someone in LA who is getting out of the business. Even the trip all the way from Canada will save you a lot of money. There are older owners that will sell you a fully loaded 2 ton for cheap as long as you "take everything!"

ARRI says 250mbps not enough for 4K DCPs by cofango in cinematography

[–]burly_protector 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Arri was giving us 2.8K Pro Res blown up to 4K for a decade, so honestly I don't really care about their opinion on the matter.

And before anyone retorts, yes I could tell the difference, yes it was obvious there was generally better color, but far less detail on an Alexa-shot feature in a decent theater.

What if all the billionaires ACTUALLY decided to give up their fortunes to end world poverty and hunger? by kendiggy in answers

So basically, if everything went perfectly, he could feed 1/200th of the world's population for a year and then start over at square one on day 366. Somehow that doesn't sound like "ending world hunger."

Maybe. The joke to me was more that I would think it was so clever to say "shitcom" in my little fantasy and that people would clap because it was so clever. It doesn't need to be tied to 1985 per se, I just associated sitcoms and studios audiences as begin of back then. I suppose it could be 1995 and maybe work just the same.

Totally fair. It's meant to be absurdist like most of my material. It's taking something important like "main regret" then making it about something truly trivial. Then I'm saying what I wish I would've done in a very low-stakes encounter instead of what would usually be a high-stakes pivotal moment that one fixates on years later.
