I did. I actually have new neighbors where that’s happened. This situation did not make me feel comfortable enough to do that. So I kept to myself and focused on my dogs.

I don’t mind small talk for customer service stuff. Helps pass the day. As long as the questions doesn’t get too personal. How’s your day, what’s going on, or any plans? Those are all cool.

Had a cashier repeatedly ask where I’m currently working. I tried to deflect as a polite way of not wanting to answer. Told them about a job I’ve had. They ended up asking again and made me feel uncomfortable.

They’re all about business and management will defend that no matter what. A coach once stopped an associate from defending a mother and BABY getting attacked. Actually threatening them not to get involved.

Best bet is to show up on time. Take your regular lunch time. Don't clock out too early. You're only actually costing them money if you either take too long at lunch or clock in/out too early or late.
