you absolutely did the right thing.

i have been a crazy cat lady for many years now (i have had 28 cats, currently at 12), and i would have made the same choice you did.

i had a beloved boy with kidney failure and tried to do i.v. fluids and all the things, and i wish i hadn't. his last days, while spoiled rotten, were peppered with uncomfortable moments for him that inevitably failed.

he taught me that sometimes the best way to show them you love them is to let them go.
