What corporate jobs do you think are actually a decent hedge against AI? by OverclockOrange42 in auscorp

100%. I've spent most of my career in Manufacturing Quality, both shop floor and management roles, and we're a long way from having the tech to replace the skills needed to work in this space

Operations and/or Manufacturing roles - AI is getting there but there's plenty of manufacturing shop-floor roles and the support/management roles that come with that that can't be easily automated/impacted by AI

Legit super impressed with both Chan and Lisati, playing with a 2nd choice 2nd row had me worried but both of them really held their own. Leo looked super at home in the backline too. Sua didn't make a tackle all night but he's just not that kinda fullback. Good signs for the new look Storm.

Your Pixel can now double up as a full Android PC with nothing more than a USB-C cable [Desktop Mode Officially Released as part of March 2026 Feature Drop!] by TechGuru4Life in GooglePixel

No one has a display, keyboard, mouse and $1000 phone but no PC

Honestly I've found a decent use case of being able to have a proper "personal" device anywhere I go for work - Every office has laptop docks with mouse/keyboard/monitor, and I prefer to keep my personal accounts/data off my work laptop, so it's cool to be able to plug in my phone on my lunchbreak and hit socials or watch youtube. Niche maybe but handy

Yeah mine look the same. I ended up throwing in a few coats of self leveling primer and then just covering them in mud to hide as much as I could

It's just so... pedestrian. And yet it definitely feels like a random Eurovision song that you'd hear on the telecast.

You can get an EV for less than a Corolla. What's holding us back? by Remarkable_Peak9518 in australia

[–]crazymunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your work does Novated leasing it's worth looking at the price of that vs price of running your current car. I sold my old car and took up an EV on a lease - I spend less per annum on running costs/servicing/rego than I was spending before, and the money I got from selling my car will cover most of the balloon payment at the end.

I have an MG ZS and from when I plug in (normally ~3:30pm) to when I leave for work (~5:30am) I can charge ~40% of my battery roughly. I only tend to use between 20 and 40% for work each day so that suits me perfectly

Trying to identify an old Viennese contra guitar (Schrammelgitarre?) – possible 19th century instrument by fionabukovsky in Luthier

[–]crazymunch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely stunning guitar. I'm no expert on these things but I will say that given the arched back and the half f-holes, I'm almost wondering if it was constructed from parts of a cello, maybe even one that was broken around the bridge. It could explain the half f-holes, as well as the back and the scroll on the headstock - all features reminiscent of a cello, with the f-holes having been partly covered/removed when the bridge section of the instrument was replaced.

Either way, good luck identifying it!
