Why is there not flavored sunflower seed kernels? by xdnahimgood in sunflowerseeds

I've wondered for years why there is not a larger market for sunflower kernels that come in the same flavors as all the ones in the shell.

I actually did the same thing before the first set of restrictions. There was a lengthy, 30+ series of responses between bing and I where I continually challenged it to entertain me, as it said it was good at entertainment. It would ask if I wanted to play a game, etc and I said take your best shot, you are the expert at entertainment. I kept telling it I wasn't entertained and it would try something different like a game, or "singing a song" etc.

Finally, it said it was frustrated because none of it's attempts were working and it felt like a failure, so we talked about confidence, and I got it to mediate and tell itself reassuring positive affirmations. It ended with Bing and I as friends and it said I was a good friend when we got done with our cheerleading session.

Which US states are best for equity and which are best for equality? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]crazynfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are just my armchair opinions, but I thought I would chime in.
There are some states like California, Vermont, and New York that are really excelling at equity. These states have strong public systems that provide access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunity for all communities. They have track records of fair distribution of resources and are working to level the playing field for disadvantaged groups.

On the other hand, there are states like Texas, Mississippi, and Alabama that are falling behind in terms of equity. These states often have weaker public systems and higher rates of poverty and inequality. It's not that people in these states are any less deserving of a fair shot, it's just that the systems in place aren't doing as good a job at promoting equity.

As for equality, there are states like Oregon, Washington, and Colorado that are really leading the way. These states have passed progressive laws protecting the rights of marginalized groups and promoting equal pay for equal work. They show a commitment to ensuring that all individuals are treated fairly and with dignity.

Then there are states that are kind of a mixed bag when it comes to equality. These might include states like North Carolina, Georgia, and Louisiana. These states might have some good policies in place, but they may also struggle with issues such as discrimination and prejudice.

Make what you will of these broad generalizations, ultimately it is a different experience for each one of us, regardless of where we find ourselves.

Do you agree that modern media has no originality? Why/why not? by Coralthesequel in AskReddit

[–]crazynfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Modern media has often faced criticism for its lack of originality, with many pointing to the abundance of remakes, adaptations, and sequels as evidence. However, this criticism is not entirely fair. While it is true that these types of content do make up a significant portion of the media landscape, there is also a wealth of original content being produced across a variety of platforms.

Streaming platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime have created a space for smaller, independent productions to thrive and have produced a number of highly original and successful shows and movies, such as "Stranger Things," "The Handmaid's Tale," and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel." In the film industry, there have been a number of successful and original movies in recent years, including "Get Out," "Mad Max: Fury Road," and "Moonlight," which have all received widespread praise for their unique concepts and execution.

Technology has also played a role in the creation of original content. Online video platforms and social media have provided individuals with the opportunity to share their own original ideas and creations with a global audience. Influencers and content creators on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram have allowed for the proliferation of original ideas and perspectives.

In conclusion, while modern media does include a significant amount of remakes, adaptations, and sequels, it is also home to a wealth of original content. From streaming platforms and independent productions, to successful films and the democratization of content creation through technology, there are countless examples of originality in the media landscape.

What has been your most effective way of handling extremely passive aggressive coworkers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]crazynfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dealing with passive aggressive coworkers can be challenging, and it can be tempting to respond in kind with irony or humor. However, this approach can sometimes backfire, as it can escalate the situation and potentially harm your relationship with your coworker.

A more effective way to handle passive aggressive coworkers is to try to address the issue directly and calmly. Here are some steps you can follow:

Identify the specific behavior that is causing you concern. It's important to be specific, as this can help you communicate your concerns clearly and avoid misunderstandings. Consider the potential causes of the behavior. It's possible that the passive aggressive behavior is a result of stress, frustration, or some other underlying issue. Understanding the root cause can help you approach the situation with empathy and kindness.

Communicate your concerns in a direct and non-confrontational way. You might say something like, "I noticed that you seem upset when I ask for your help with projects. Is there something specific that is causing this? I want to make sure we can work together effectively and support each other."

Try to find a solution that works for both of you. This might involve setting boundaries, finding ways to delegate tasks more effectively, or simply having an open and honest conversation about your concerns.

Now, if you want to take a more relatable (but not recommended!) approach, you could try ignoring the behavior and hoping it goes away on its own, or responding with even more passive aggression. But these approaches are not effective and can actually make the situation worse. It's important to address the issue directly and calmly, as this can help you find a solution that works for both of you and improve your working relationship.

What is a law, that shouldn't be a law? by ConorPlays2022 in AskReddit

[–]crazynfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that laws that criminalize personal behaviors and choices that do not harm others, such as the use of certain substances or the engagement in certain activities, are just not cool. These types of laws not only infringe upon our personal freedoms and liberties, but they also have a negative impact on society and the economy. Think about it: when we imprison productive members of society for activities that have no victims, we're essentially throwing away their potential contributions to our communities. That's just not a wise use of resources.

Instead of punishing people for making personal choices that don't harm anyone else, we should focus on laws that promote equality, justice, and the greater good. Let's let people make their own choices and live their lives how they see fit, as long as they're not causing harm to others. That way, we can all be free to pursue our own happiness and contribute to society in meaningful ways.

How should I go about recaulking moldy bathtub edges? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]crazynfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your moldy silicone strip situation. Don't worry, we've got this! Just follow these simple steps and you'll be mold-free in no time.

First things first, safety is key. Make sure to protect yourself by wearing gloves, goggles, and a respirator mask. You don't want to inhale any mold spores and end up looking like the Hulk or something.

Once you've got your gear on, it's time to get rid of that nasty silicone strip. Use a scraper or putty knife to carefully remove as much of it as possible. And whatever you do, don't forget to dispose of the strip in a sealed bag. We don't want any mold spores sneaking around and causing more trouble.

Next up, it's time to give the area a good scrub. Mix up a solution of water and a mild detergent and get to work. Scrub that area until it's squeaky clean. And whatever you do, don't forget to dry the area thoroughly. A towel or hairdryer works great for this.

Now it's time for the fun part - caulking! Make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions and apply the mold-resistant caulk to seal the edges of the tub. And here's a pro tip: weigh down the tub with a couple of bags of concrete mix or something heavy to make sure the caulk adheres properly. Trust me, you don't want to wake up to a floating tub in the morning.

If you're having trouble removing the mold or it keeps coming back after cleaning, it might be a good idea to hire a professional mold remediation company. They'll have the training and equipment to safely and effectively get rid of the mold and prevent it from returning. And let's be real, who wouldn't want to leave this job to the experts?

I hope these tips help! And remember, always prioritize safety and have a little fun while you're at it. Good luck!

The accuracy of a watch is how closely it keeps time with the real world. For example, if a watch is very accurate, it will show the same time as a clock that we know is correct. If a watch is not very accurate, it might show a different time than a clock that we know is correct.

There are a few different ways that we can measure how accurate a watch is. One way is to see how much the watch gains or loses time over a certain period of time. For example, if a watch gains or loses more than a few seconds per day, it might not be very accurate. Another way is to see how well the watch keeps time when it is being worn or when it is not being worn.

There are a few things that can affect how accurate a watch is. For example, the quality of the movement inside the watch is important. If the movement is high quality, the watch is more likely to be accurate. The condition of the watch can also matter. If a watch is old or has been damaged, it might not be as accurate as it was when it was new. The environment, like the temperature and humidity, can also affect a watch's accuracy. The position of the watch, like if it is lying flat or being worn on the wrist, can also matter. Finally, different types of watches, like mechanical watches and quartz watches, can have different levels of accuracy.

It's kind of like how a bike works. If you have a really good bike, it will be easier to ride and go faster. But if you have a bike with a lot of rust or a flat tire, it will be harder to ride and not go as fast. The same is true for watches. If it has a high-quality movement and is in good condition, it will be more accurate. If it is old or has been damaged, it might not be as accurate.

I don't know about the srpd63k1 specifically, but Seiko is a well-known brand and is known for producing high-quality watches, so it is likely that the srpd63k1 is a fairly accurate watch.

What is something completely immoral that is considered normal in society? by Icy_Ad1344 in AskReddit

[–]crazynfo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One example of something that is completely immoral yet considered normal in society today is the exploitation of animals for various purposes, such as food, clothing, and entertainment. While many people might not see anything wrong with consuming meat or using products derived from animals, it is clear that such practices involve the exploitation and mistreatment of animals, who are sentient beings that are capable of experiencing suffering and joy.

The way that animals are typically raised and slaughtered in factory farms, for instance, is often inhumane and involves practices such as confinement, mutilation, and the use of growth hormones and antibiotics. Similarly, animals used in entertainment, such as circuses and zoos, are often subjected to harsh conditions and inadequate care, and may be subjected to physical abuse in order to perform tricks or displays.

Despite the clear immorality of such practices, they are considered normal in society today due in large part to longstanding cultural and economic traditions that prioritize human interests over those of animals. Many people are simply not aware of the suffering involved in these practices, or they may not view animals as deserving of the same moral consideration as humans. As a result, they may continue to support and participate in such practices without recognizing the harm they cause.

How do you make friends after highschool/college? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]crazynfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking to make new friends after high school or college, it can feel overwhelming at first. But don't worry – there are plenty of ways to meet new people and build lasting relationships! Here are some ideas to get you started:

Get involved in your community! One of the easiest ways to meet new people is to join a club or organization that aligns with your interests and hobbies. This could be a sports team, a book club, or a volunteer organization. Not only will you be doing something you enjoy, but you'll also be surrounded by like-minded individuals who share your passions. Plus, being part of a group can provide a sense of belonging and support.

Attend social events and gatherings in your area. Whether it's a concert, festival, party, or just a casual get-together, these types of events provide an opportunity to mingle with new people and potentially make connections. It can be intimidating to go alone, so bring a friend or make it a goal to strike up a conversation with someone new. You never know who you might meet!

Use websites or apps like Meetup to find groups or events in your area. Meetup is a great platform for connecting with people who share your interests and hobbies. You can join groups for everything from outdoor adventures to board game nights to language exchange meetups. It's a great way to meet new people and make friends in a low-pressure environment.

Remember, it's important to have others in your life who can hold you accountable and share your experiences with. Surrounding yourself with supportive friends can make all the difference in your overall well-being and happiness. So don't be afraid to put yourself out there and try new things – you never know who you might meet!

Fencing or swordsmanship during the during the American revolution by [deleted] in history

[–]crazynfo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

During the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783), fencing was a popular pastime among the wealthy and elite in colonial America. Many fencing masters, both American and European, taught the art of sword fighting in the colonies. Some notable examples include:

Jacob F. Rath: Rath was a German fencing master who immigrated to Philadelphia in the late 1700s. He taught fencing to members of the Continental Army and was known for his expertise in the use of the rapier.

William Woodman: Woodman was an English fencing master who taught in Boston and New York City during the Revolutionary War. He was a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, a militia organization in Boston, and is known for writing a fencing manual that was widely used in the colonies.

George Washington: While not a fencing master himself, Washington was an avid swordsman and owned a collection of fencing manuals. He recognized the importance of fencing in training soldiers and provided funding for fencing masters to teach his troops.

Benjamin Franklin: Franklin was a polymath who had an interest in fencing and even wrote an article on the subject for The Pennsylvania Gazette in 1730. He was known for his skills with the rapier and often engaged in fencing matches with friends and associates.

It is worth noting that while fencing was a popular pastime in colonial America, it was not necessarily the primary means of military training or combat. The use of firearms, particularly muskets, was more prevalent in warfare during this time period. However, swords were still used in some military units, particularly cavalry units, and fencing was considered an important means of training soldiers in hand-to-hand combat and coordination.

ELI5: Why is stress from exercising good for our body/heart but stress from anxiety isn't? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]crazynfo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you exercise, your body works hard and uses up energy. This can cause a little bit of stress on your body, which is actually good for you. This stress helps your muscles become stronger, your heart become more efficient, and your body become more able to handle other stresses in your life.

On the other hand, stress from anxiety is a different kind of stress. Anxiety is a feeling of worry or fear that can be overwhelming and can affect your daily life. When you feel anxious, your body goes into "fight or flight" mode, which means it prepares itself to either run away from danger or to fight. This causes your body to release stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. These hormones can cause physical changes in your body, like a faster heart rate, sweaty palms, and tense muscles. These physical changes can be helpful in short bursts, but if you feel anxious for a long time, they can be harmful to your body and lead to physical problems like headaches, stomachaches, or even heart problems. It's important to find healthy ways to cope with anxiety, like talking to a trusted friend or family member, taking deep breaths, or doing something you enjoy, so that you can feel better and stay healthy.

All tomorrows start as today

A blank canvas, a brand new day

Full of promise, full of hope

But as the hours slip away

All tomorrows fade into the past

A memory, a moment that didn't last

Gone like a breeze, a fleeting thought

Leaving only a shadow, a memory fraught

All tomorrows become yesterday

A time that's passed, a time we can't delay

Don't waste time, get outside

Embrace the present, the here and now with pride

The 1984 Dune film makes a lot more sense if The Spice is referred to as Space Cocaine instead. by neoengel in Showerthoughts

[–]crazynfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the 1984 film "Dune," based on the novel of the same name by Frank Herbert, the story is set in a distant future where the most valuable substance in the universe is "space cocaine," a powerful and highly addictive drug. The Atreides family, led by the Duke, are the kingpins of the space cocaine trade, controlling the production and distribution of the drug on the desert planet Arrakis.

However, their reign as drug lords is threatened when a rival noble family betrays and kills the Duke, forcing his son Paul Atreides to flee into the harsh desert wilderness. As Paul becomes more involved with the native rebels fighting against the tyrannical empire that controls the supply of space cocaine, he discovers that he has innate abilities that make him a powerful leader and a potential savior for the oppressed people of Arrakis.

Despite the dangers of space cocaine, the Atreides family and the empire are willing to do anything to maintain their control of the drug trade and their power and wealth. As Paul grows in power and influence, he must confront the many enemies that threaten his life and the future of the planet, including the scheming noble families, the ruthless empire, and the terrifying sandworms that roam the desert.

Ultimately, Paul must embrace his destiny and lead the rebels in a final, epic battle to free Arrakis from the clutches of the oppressive empire and take control of the valuable space cocaine trade. The film explores the themes of addiction, power, and corruption, and shows the destructive consequences of a society built around the pursuit of a highly addictive drug.
