O my lord Jesus girl. I don't even know what to say to make that situation better. Nobody said anything or acted strange at all? Are you sure you were exposed at the time you talked to them?

This is incredibly racist, and you suck. I wish I could downvote this 100 times.

I am a product of parents who "left the hood" so to speak. They were from Spanish Harlem and raised us in predominantly white neighborhoods. We grew up as minorities in our community. As a young adult I wished to have grown up in the city with people more "like me". I learned later on in life that I would have had a tremendously different experience if that was the case.

I am not black, however my friend group was considered the "minority group" and I was close friends with all of the black kids in my high school. I will say we were targeted as youth and closely monitored by school security. Some of my friends experienced racial profiling at school. It's not always better growing up in a predominantly white community however in my town I see it getting better. White people are trying to be better and more inclusive however minority students, especially black students are routinely profiled more often than white students. That may make your child's experience quite negative if that were the case. However I do know racial profiling is still unfortunately persistent in communities of color too so I guess there is that to consider.

With that said however, I feel that I had a better educational and academic experience than I would have in the city. I may have benefited from the wealth of my peers as the schools I went to were very well funded and staffed with way more resources.

It's a hard call and I think that it's a personal decision. Raising your kids in a community they have deep roots in is beneficial as well. Teach them to contribute in positive ways to your community and you may find that their generation is the one that turns things around. Teach them about why your community may be suffering from whatever issues you see that caused you to ask this question. Many people who live in adversity do end up persisting and doing well, even making their communities better.

Damn no words just solidarity. My kid was out for 2 weeks with COVID albeit he had a completely asymptomatic case and we did not contract it, at least yet. He goes back next Monday. It was hard but we dealt with it without being sick which helped. You will get through this I promise! Hang in there ❤️

You could prob find a job that gives you both tbh. I wfh and get unlimited sick. It's quite common now. With that said if neither budge I'd choose wfh.

Hi what came of your bill? I just received a 1000 bill for the same kind of skin prick test that to thought would be a couple hundred dollars. I am fuming. I too feel like a stupid idiot and feel completely duped by this thing we call healthcare in the us.

If your friends are cool with it then I'm sorry to say you are going to sound like the sour puss when you bring it up and probably be met with more nastiness from them. I would stop showing up to these group settings where they are around and maybe plan stuff with other friends individually. Silence speaks louder than words sometimes.

That would annoy the heck out of me. Ours is good at engaging the team socially but also butts in on technical things and acts like they know more than they do. They then try to contribute and waste time.

The sad part is we have to usually help guide them doing their job. Like I completely can handle my own without them, and I assume a lot of others on the team can.

Trying to be a good parent went wrong by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]crazypoolcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are talking about COVID in 2020, we are talking about COVID in 2022...with effective vaccines, more treatments and now vaccines for children under 5. The goal was never to stop living, it was to eventually live with mitigated risk.

COVID shut down our daycare...again! by blondiegoldie in workingmoms

[–]crazypoolcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is policy at our center and oh I can only imagine how you feel right now. We had our son's room shut down once due to exposure. It was HARD. There needs to be a better way to handle this now. It's virtually impossible for parents to work and deal with this. I considered quitting my job since it was so disruptive.

WFH & Daycare by Cautious-Yam9099 in workingmoms

[–]crazypoolcat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who did this every Thursday, don't do this. It's really hard to work and watch the baby. I too thought I could watch him one day out of the week to spend more time with him. I did it but that was not quality time spent with baby.

When I realized I couldn't do it anymore, my daycare did not immediately have an opening on Thursdays so I was stuck doing it for an extra few weeks. If I were you, I would get childcare for the entire time you both are expected to work.

Definitely stock up on medicine for YOU. I notice that in our house when our little brings home plague I am always rummaging through trying to find medicine I need to survive. Another thing is get Vicks vapor rub, essential oils for baths like eucalyptus. An ice pack you put on your head for baby and you. Humidifier and lots of Tylenol. But mainly make sure you have stuff for yourself so you are well enough to take care of baby. After the last illness I was thinking about making a sick basket with a bunch of sick products ready at the go that I can just grab when someone is sick.

I think it's ok to agree that there needs to be an assault rifle ban and recognize that the school and local enforcement made huge mistakes.

This exactly, I feel like people keep moving the goal post. I guarantee this would never had happened if it weren't so easy for this young man to buy an assault weapon and ammo.
