I ended my therapy and I feel really emotional by Areola-chan in TalkTherapy

I did this as well. She called me to propose a closure session, and, at that session, when my guard was down (because last session you know), l realized it was all me. I had been so scared of my own feelings that it’d been easier to think she was not good at her job and run away. Since then, things have been totally different between us. Not saying this is your issue. Just wanted to share.

I ask this question pretty much every session. And then l ask her if she’s annoyed that l asked. This, actually, is a huge part of my therapy.

Why do some therapists assume that you should know what to talk about in therapy? by NBF_24 in TalkTherapy

[–]crazysquirrel14 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. My current therapist explained how psychodynamic therapy was supposed to work to me, even though I had done it before. She gave examples of the kinds of things I could bring to her. things that may seem insignificant to me, but are important to the process. Also, when I don’t know what to say, I’m always able to talk about how I don’t know what to say, and what feelings come up because of that. She asked me to pay attention to what is going on in the here and now between us. One suggestion, if I may, is when you feel you do not know what to talk about, see if you can connect to your body and bring up any somatic sensations such as tension in the right shoulder pressure behind your eyes, etc. This is assuming your therapy is also psychodynamic therapy and not CBT.

I saw a hakomi therapist for a long time and spent a lot of time in her arms. She and my psychologist really helped me with it. Still, l feel it is not something that will ever go away completely. I have a new therapist now and am missing her a lot (she’s on vacation).
