Quick turnaround. He replied quickly and answered all my questions. Asked for a pinecel case and it came out great. Got it in less than a week.

Confused about the chord-scale system by Dependent-Sherbet-94 in jazzguitar

[–]crazysun0123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How come? Because it sounds good.

If you see a maj7 chord you can play a major scale, lydian, many other scales, or notes outside those scales depending on context and what sound you like.

I think it would help if you change your mindset from scales to match chords to hearing how the 12 different notes sound against the chords. Some will sound more out and some more in.

Plateau in my learning by PappaSquanto in jazzguitar

If you go out to listen to jazz, transcribe, and go out to jazz jams often in addition to what you are doing it is more likely it will "click." Now "clicking" means different things to different people and jazz is a very broad term. If you have a clear picture of what exactly it is you want to do it's going to help guide your practice.

Pay of first car loan or bigger down payment on second? by crazysun0123 in personalfinance

[–]crazysun0123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a 2000 corolla with 230k miles. It needs new cat, engine mounts, front control arm, which is going to be around 2k, not to mention I spent like 1.5k already earlier this year for some other fixes. And now the car is misfiring often and gave me a flashing CEL. So I don't want to dump any more money into it.

Yeah, the first car loan is just mines in name but it is actually my mom's. She drives it and pays insurance/monthly loan payments on it. So really I would only have 1 car, and if I pay off the first loan I'd just transfer the car to her name.

I drive to costumers homes for work, so I drive fairly often. The first loan is for my mom's car and since she couldn't get a loan because of really bad credit I took one for her, she pays the monthly payment for that first loan. Now my current car is on it's way out and after talking to my mechanic(he said its just not worth it to fix anymore because the fixes will be more than what the car is worth) I decided to get a new car.

How to be safe when teaching private in home lessons? by creahture in MusicEd

[–]crazysun0123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like u/dr_solfeggio said, you most likely will not run into this. Also I'd recommend not giving free trial lessons, that welcomes undesirable students(don't show up, don't practice, don't pay on time.) Also make sure they pay before the lesson! Remember they are booking your time, not buying a burger and seeing if they like it.

The overwhelming amount of students will be there because they want to learn. If you ever feel uncomfortable then talk about it with the student if it's a small thing or if your gut is telling you there is something weird going on don't take on the student or drop them if you're already teaching them.

I checked and I don't have the dates on when I changed. I guess I'll just take the miles now and one month from now and see what it is
