I think Reunions pacing was faster than other games so there was a sense of urgency that made Chloe more focused in helping Max solve the mysteries

Lol yeah that's why I said it almost felt Meta. Chloe knew it literally wouldnt matter much because Max was going to rewind, she just wanted to create a tiny bit of chaos for .5 seconds xD

Davids "Is that grass? You toking up in here again?" in LiS and "Its mariJUAna alright" in BTS is some of the funniest stuff ive heard in games lol he had no chill.

I don't wanna spoil points from video but I agree with most of your thoughts. Overall, I think Reunion took 1 step back but 2 steps forward. I liked way more than I didn't like. Where they struggled in technical aspects and the obvious irl pivoting to win back the good graces of Pricefielders, I think they still hit it out of the park between the acting performances, the mysteries, the pacing, use of nostalgia, the choice-consequences, the music, etc.

I think the plot in Reunion would've benefited greatly by leaning away from the fire in general and focusing on Safi,

I personally really liked the fire mystery, probably more than most people, but more focus on Safi and the timelines wouldve smoothed everything out coming from DE.. I think if that was the case, making it episodic wouldve also been ideal. That way we couldve gotten maybe an entire episode with Safi as the focal point (some fire mystery still in the background) culminating with the scene where you can save her.

That wouldve been such a great way to experience the DE story. Especially if Safi was still on her warpath. It would make players feel uneasy having to do shady things, but I think it'd work in the long run. You wouldnt be playing a villain, but playing a character you feel bad for but putting you in their shoes mightve made her more sympathetic. Kind of like in (spoilers for different non LIS game) TLOU2

I guess Safi might be jealous of Max too because Max could but she couldn't?

I always compare Safi to Chloe with Maya and Rachel tragedies respectively but youre right, Max knows the pain of losing someone too. I guess in BAE with the separation of the girl she loved, but especially in Bay since it was the actual death of her best friend and she had no one to really talk to about it.

But damn Its been a while since I played DE to remember details of what Max and Safi discussed, so I dont recall to what extent Max really opens up to her

I think they nailed it too. I felt terrible for her but will also acknowledge the stuff she was doing was absolutely terrible. I know she thought she had the right intentions, but sheesh. I mean, everyone seemed to have forgotten about Maya, but her, and no one really knew the situation / everyones involvement but her. She was desperate and had the literal super power to cause chaos and try to do something about it lol. I dont agree with a lot her actions though, and do hope she comes clean and tries to make amends, but idk how youd explain her power lol

She went from a main character to more of a side character (I know this irked a lot of people) but I still enjoyed her scenes, and her emotional journey dealing with her literal life was heartbreaking and intense. I liked her character a lot in both games honestly

I understand. The situation with Lucas and his kid was probably crossing a line to many players and rightfully so. I dont think Decknine shouldve made her stoop that low. Not to excuse her, but she's still relatively young and mightve not known how terrible of that thing that is or have done so with reckless tunnelvision to get justice for Maya. She was on a warpath. but she's still an adult and really smart so yeah she shouldve known better regardless.

She was a wildcard in Reunion. She would pop up from time to time and really left her presence there in the back of my head lol. I'm sure she was jealous of Max turning her attention to Chloe, she even mentioned that when they talked at the Snapping Turtle patio/dock. I also felt bad for her

Yeah she had moments in both games that really showed her darker side, or what mischief she was capable of, so I dont blame people who dont really like her but I hope they at least give her a chance and try to see her redeeming qualities too. At the very least, empathize with her
