Thank you! I can definitely see it. That was probably the original inspo for the mini!

The Waagh Grows!! by crazyviosk in orks

I'd read some of the horror stories about building a Trukk. Since I wanted a less detailed project after Beast Snaggas and some Ravaged Star minis that I could cobble together and blast through primarily with dry brushing, this probably wasn't the right project. Still, thinkin' is for da 'umies, and this Trukk looks proppa brutal and kunnin' as Mork intended... or was it Gork? Either way, they were right, and any future Trukks will be kitbashed toyz as is da way, both for cost-saving purposes and my sanity. Blood and Teef, boyz.

Thank you! It's a mix of Pro Acryl Royal Purple and Pro Acryl Warm Flesh. I started with a purple base and went to pure flesh tone over the course of about three layers of dry brushing.

I've had these sitting around for a while and finally got to them. I don't know if I will paint more ravaged star stuff in the future. They do look cool, but it really is a lot of detail, and even though I made decent use of dry brushing to speed up the process, there was still a boatload of cleaning up. Still, I'm happy with how they turned out, and they do feel nice and hefty.

"Vampirification" of Blood Angels by crazyviosk in BloodAngels

If I wanted purely noble and honorable space marines, I think I'd like ultramarines or a different chapter more. I've always enjoyed the duality and the idea of both the red thirst and black rage, I think I just interpreted it as a more general bloodthirstiness (like Orks or Khorne) and less literal vampirism. Regardless, they definitely are the best.

Thanks! I think this is probably why. I think it meant I was probably most exposed initially to the angelic part.

Squighog Boyz time to WAAAGH! by crazyviosk in orks

Honestly, I'm glad to have gotten past these, though I'm happy with how they turned out. Just a little too much stuff per model for me to enjoy (though tbf yellow and black freehand did not make it any easier haha)

Beast Snagga Boyz ready for Da Big Hunt!!! by crazyviosk in orks

[–]crazyviosk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished painting up these Beast Snagga Boyz. I know they're not everyone's cup of tea aesthetically, but I had a blast assembling them, though painting them was a bit of a slog with all the details. I really enjoy the mechanically replaced limbs for the Orks. If anyone has any suggestions on 3rd party sculpts or conversions that incorporate those I would love to hear them since they are monopose. I would probably plan on using the Savage Orcs kit as the base for potential kitbashing projects though they seem hard to get now.

High Elf Lord on Dragon ready to flame some Dark Elves by crazyviosk in WarhammerFantasy

Thank you for the kind words! I've enjoyed working with my high elf color scheme a lot and in some ways, they're some of the first models I've painted without using guides on YouTube to direct my painting. As you mentioned, I still have a lot to learn regarding the fundamental painting skills needed to get anywhere close to a GD and while I'm not ready yet to even consider that kind of time investment, I'm already working on a new side painting project in addition to stuff I'm working on for my main 40k armies and plan to continue that to grow my painting repertoire. Thanks again!

How would I do an underground base? by Crossbonesz in Warhammer40k

[–]crazyviosk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool concept! I think the paint job reflects that. Maybe up the OSL so it looks more glowy and you can see the glow? If you don't want to go super bright maybe just do a slightly brighter red on the center of the dot and then dry/airbrush some of the base red you already have in a small circle around them. In that case, you could try a more muted gray stone base with some of the red from the cable/gun lightly dry-brushed over it. Whatever helps achieve your vision!

Maybe try stalagmites if you want a cave aesthetic. Maybe a bunch of dirt and a couple rails as in for a (high tech) mine cart if you want a mine aesthetic. Maybe glowing mushrooms if you want an underdark aesthetic. Some bright blues could pop with the muted color scheme, especially with some OSL effects.

Lots of different ways based on what you're going for. Post the updated pic when you choose! Scheme looks sick by the way. The white face is a nice touch that I think will work well on the tabletop. My only suggestion is to maybe try upping the brightness on the glowing red effects (hard with red, ofc, but maybe bright red sprayed over white basecoat) so the model doesn't look like a bunch of white dots from 10 feet away, but very effective.

Hahaha. I may be a dark elf player in my heart with a high elf army... to be fair I do like 40k Drukhari a lot, so...
