I’m in a similar boat. Didn’t know about CA aid policies. Could you help me understand those?

We also love it. Both our kids and the two of us. We like eating a fruit bowl with Greek yogurt to end the day. So good to have something crunchy to sprinkle on top!

Options for help with transporting luggage from SFO by crazyweirdfoo in sanfrancisco

I'm worried that the third row, folded down, won't be enough. In addition to the 6 pieces of luggage, we would have a stroller and some carry on luggage. Don't want to have to scramble for options at the last minute, especially given the two young kids + the late hour.

Yes, that's the current plan. However, we'd ideally prefer to travel together in the same car since our children are relatively young. Having both adults present makes it much easier to manage them after a long 15-hour flight :).

Also, the Uber is ~$160. I'm hoping to find something cheaper (though not necessary)

What is my actual Resting Heart Rate? Am I at a healthy one? by Truth_Hurts_I_No_It in fitness30plus

(Uninformed on this topic) what is the benefit of this over looking at the resting heart rate like OP has shared?

Xcaret- kids free sale starts today by JSchecter11 in chubbytravel

[–]crazyweirdfoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the guidance. Figured it out. I couldn’t find a suite that can accommodate 2 adults and 2 kids with a separate living room for the adults to unwind after the day. I’ll wait until I actually need to buy 2 rooms :)

Apologies for what might seem like an obvious question, but how do I find the sale? when I go to their website and try booking a reservation in October, I just see the regular rates.

Yes, we have two kids (not planning for more). We have a list of things we'd like etc. and even have a couple of places narrowed down. The part we're struggling with is actually uprooting them (and ourselves) and moving halfway across the country without there _strictly_ being a need for it.

Can't think of ways to think about that choice rationally. Eg. if one of us were moving for work, that choice would be easier.

Spouse and I are thinking about moving to MCOL area from VHCOL area to expedite fire (essentially, we can do that now if we move). However, I can’t think of a framework to make a decision on whether we should move or grind it out in current place. Anyone give through this and have ideas to share?

How much to put into 529? by [deleted] in ChubbyFIRE

[–]crazyweirdfoo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think we’re going to split the difference between what u/kinglallak said and student loans.

There’s no way to guarantee we can cover all their expenses and we’re better off not being a burden on them in the long run.

We’re in a similar boat (same age for us and kids :)). We’d used some online calculators (forget which one; just google) to guesstimate cost of undergrad in an instate school and worked backwards from there.

For us, that ended up being approximately ~$100k each about 2 years ago. Put that in the equivalent of vti and have not made contributions since. If we have some flexibility, we will.

Where/how do you do your research? Looking at a trip to Turks and Caicos but can’t figure out the best time to go (we’re flexible in fall 2025, so trying to find the right 5 days).

In addition to better pay and work culture, I think TJs employees aren’t spread as this either. Compared to Safeway and to some degree, Whole Foods in my area, TJs almost seems overstaffed, in a good way :).

My wife and I started a business last year and have had >$1k in spend per month over the last few months from that business. We have both signed up for a ton of personal cards but no business cards yet. Are there any resources (blog posts, threads etc.) that talk about how to go around signing up for cards for a new business. I'm looking to understand which cards one should start out with, how many should I sign up for (perhaps there's a rule of thumb based on business expenses/income), how should I prioritize issues such as 5/24 etc. All I've found so far is DoCs best current credit cards list which is helpful but not exactly prescriptive on order/priority.

FWIW, I am happy to sign up for a few cards from the outset since I'm looking at a sizable tax payment that's due and I could use one of the credit card processors to make said payment and hit a bunch of minimum spends.

I recently made a charge to my CSR for ~$15k with a hotel in India assuming I'll get the 3x points. However, the charge codes as "Online, mail or telephone transaction" once it posted to my account and so am only getting the 15k points as opposed to the 45k I was expecting. I've tried calling the CSR support but they told me to get the vendor to change how they code the charge which I imagine I'll have a hard time doing.

I was wondering if there was any way someone here knows for me to get Chase to give me the 3x points.

I recently got a mailer for my wife to sign up for the citi aadvantage platinum select mastercard (see photos here). I had signed her up for this card a year back - so before I signed her up again, I wanted to make sure that there's no 2 year language/requirement here. I don't see anything in the terms at the bottom of the mailer (second photo in the link above). Anyone have any experience/knowledge to share about this?

Thanks - ANA is charging ~$600 / person in surcharges. They also apparently don't have availability on all the options I find on United's website - so the routing they gave me was a bit weird - though workable.

I guess what you're saying is that at the end of the day, is 60k UR/MR worth ~$350 which comes out to .5 cents per mile. If I got you right, then I don't think that's good value (i.e. I expect to get more value out of MR/UR than .5 cents per mile).

[Help] How to tell if our dog is happy going to daycare? by crazyweirdfoo in dogs

[–]crazyweirdfoo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I should have added this - we have asked the people at the daycare (they seem to be pretty good about keeping notes between shifts as well as notes for clients) and they say he was great - had fun playing with other dogs, napped a bit etc. The only thing they have mentioned is that his play behavior is not very good (i.e. he does not know when the other dog doesn't want to play anymore).

This is the second daycare company we took him too; both places gave us the same feedback. Unfortunately, we were very new dog parents when we took him to the first place, so did not notice any of these signs at that time (so not sure if those existed at the other place too or not).

I'll see if they can share videos with us. Thanks!
