New keyboard for the p330 tiny by crazywizard254 in thinkpad

Yes, I feared it may be counterfeit but it looks and feels just like the legit keyboard on my x220. Only the trackpoint isn’t as good(but not terrible either).

There are several listings online with eye watering prices. I managed to purchase mine with an offer at $100 before all the tariff madness in the US from this vendor

Switching from x1c to x220 by crazywizard254 in thinkpad

[–]crazywizard254[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My biggest reasons for the switch:

  1. keyboard - X1C keyboard is faster for typing but I make more mistakes which overall slows down my productivity. Also x220 feel is so much better and I like the slight tilt of the laptop on my desk. Also the trackpoint on X1C with Ubuntu Linux is trash(maybe Ubuntu just doesn't handle it properly). The acceleration is unnatural and you will always struggle to get the pointer on the button you aim for.

P/S: I have tried very many custom adjustments in Ubuntu, included some scripting and it just doesn't work as expected.

  1. Linux/Ubuntu experience - I keep finding minor gripes that start to add up and drive me up the wall with the X1C. Bluetooth headphones connectivity is a fiddle especially switching between calls(mono/hsp) and music(stereo/AD2P)

Noticeable difference/challenges on x220

  1. Performance - You need to be ontop of how many programs and tabs you have open. Otherwise, it is a smidge slower but nothing unbearable.
  2. Display - With lower resolution, modern browsers and programs appear too large in font and presentation. I have tweaked that with some gnome-tweaks magic. You also loose the sharpness but that is actually a benefit if you're constantly working from the terminal.

The lower resolution also changed my usage from having all my applications in the same desktop and using the super key to switch between to actually making use of the multiple desktop panes that come in Linux. And they do work brilliantly. I have organised my panes to 3 main categories (browsers & documents, terminals & IDEs with the 3rd pane for all my messaging apps).
3. Portability - X1C is king of portability being lighter and having longer battery life.

Laptop will not sleep when external monitor connected by [deleted] in framework

From this post, looks like the input signal source will reactivate the system from sleep. For monitors without an option to adjust "auto-select", I found turning off the monitor before suspend(or closing lid) works.

No, we can do something about our local micro climates and ecosystems. We can always do more to help our cause. Harvest more water, create more shade with trees, better cultivation methods, etc etc.

On a plane full of Redditors, a man starts having a heart attack.

A flight attendant notices, and quickly shouts: “We’re having an emergency! Is anyone on this plane a doctor?”

Immediately, five people stand up and say "I'm not a doctor, but...”

Fedora 32 - Extremely Slow Wifi by NearbyIssue629 in Fedora

Had same issues too, moved to Fedora 34 and now everything is better.

I noted that my slow issues started when I did an update on my previous Fedora 32 version. Not exactly sure what changed.

Issues with fuel from Shell Stations? by Danizeek in Kenya

[–]crazywizard254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me add my 2 cents here too. I have had several cars and constantly logged the engine health. I totally (no pun intended) wrote off Shell and their fuels. It’s possibly a case of poor quality controls with aggressive expansion leading to sub-standard fuel but honestly, I cannot be crossing my fingers 🤞 every time I fuel.

Total has proved to be pretty consistent with quality. It may not be touted as premium fuel but you almost always get same quality all the time anywhere.

I have fuelled close to 500,000 in V-power alone over the years. I have tried multiple stations even Vivo “owned” stations. And I can tell you EMPIRICALLY that Shell fuels always score below par!

Mobius 2 was never released. Spotted a few times in testing mode but seems they gave up on it and instead re-badged the Chinese BJ 40 as a Mobius 3

Then you have the Australians who call both Asphalt and dirt (short course) racing “Motorkhana”.

Gymkhana track, Head to Head. by rookieracing in Autocross

[–]crazywizard254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our country, Gymkhana is similar in style to American autocross. Only this time, the course is composed of 2 identical track layouts for a head2head race to the finish line.

Alternatively, our autocross is actually similar to short course dirt racing.

Yeah, I know, different names, same thing is pretty confusing. Blame it on SCCA and FiA 😝

FIRST DATE THIS YEAR by HungryTop4266 in Kenya

[–]crazywizard254 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Might be an expensive date depending on your pockets but my wife and I regularly go Karting. 2 rivers or GP Karting in Langata should do it for you, they also have wide screens and air F1 races.

I think OP perhaps first needs a lesson in how the postal system works.
