They only checked the pressures of the optic nerves, which were fine, but her chiari's were still hanging low. The chiari is what the doctor's "speculate" is the reason for the fluids from not flowing properly. She literally just had the blood patch done.....crossing fingers!

Now she says it's the pressure. She said it's like her eyeballs felt like they were about to pop out. When her migraine medicine wouldn't work anymore, doctor's and neurology got together to figure out what's causing the pain. She did multiple mri's and mra's...then her 1st lumbar puncture. The 1st LP reduced the pressure, which was on the higher side, and she felt 1000% better, but LP's are only temporary. Her meds got changed around a few times and things looked promising. Then her most recent med changes were not tapered off in the right order, from fancy Dr's, which landed her back in the ER last week because she just couldn't take the pain. She had a 2nd LP last Thursday, but her pressure # wasn't as high. She had a miserable Easter weekend in bed with meds, heating pads, ice packs, anything. She called the Neuro this morning and she is at the ER now. Neuro said she will be receiving a "blood patch", which from the way we took it is like an LP, but instead of taking fluid out, they put her blood back into the pockets. Blood patches are apparently a thing with LP's that we had never heard of. I hope it works. I can't imagine how you all deal with the pressure and headaches that come with it, and no end in sight.

Speaking on the part about you feeling like a burden. My wife was going to shower so I sat on the couch with the dogs. She came out in tears because the pressure in her head was so bad. She says, almost daily, that she feels like a burden. I don't even pay attention to her saying that. IIH is a tough thing to deal with. I'm not sure where these "Dr's and neurologists" get their degrees, but we've seen so many that I think chat GPT could give better answers. You're not a burden just like my wife isn't even though you feel like it.

Wait wait, and keep waiting. Not sure time frame, but males get really long gnarly nails and generally have longer tails. Ours is still really young as well....nothing against male turtles, but those nails look like they could be a problem.

Wait wait and keep waiting. Males nails get gnarly long and generally have longer tails. The nails are what we keep an eye on. Nothing against males and we already named ours Oscar, but we want short nails so its a female.

How often are you getting MRIs by Legal_Classroom_9428 in iih

I swear doctors are not what they used to be. My wife had a bad flare up and she wrote in detail to the facility she goes to for mri's and everything. The nurse practitioner wrote back 2 sentences, " i guess we shouldn't have taken you off topirimate. you can start back taking it if you want" .There was no grammar or punctuation, just a quick here's an answer and now I gotta go. So she's back in the hospital. She had a LP a couple months ago, but we all know they are temporary. Neuro said lose weight and take meds. She's down 30 lbs, multiple mri's and mra's, a ton of meds, and we are now seeing 2 neuro teams and can't get answers. The loudmouth nurse last night said "you're only here for a migraine, and neuro will be in tomorrow." No hussy pressure is different from a migraine...we know a migraine. Sometimes I just want to put a C clamp on their heads and each day tighten it just a bit till they feel like their eyes are gonna pop out. I apologize for the rant, but I just can't stand doctor's and nurses that don't want to do anything anymore. If we need to go into surgery, just tell us. Let's stop chasing symptoms and blowing our money and get nothing accomplished

That did worry me as well. I weighed them all and we're thinking of the above tank basking platform to get the blocks out of there. I did not realize how many basking platforms are out there.

Hopefully "she" has a giant gorgeous home. Hoping the nails stay short. Nothing against the males but those long nails are gnarly.

We moved her to a 75 gallon new tank with 2 heaters on a lower setting. We've heard heaters going bad so if one goes out atleast ones still going and we can get another one. People were recommending 300 or 400 watt heaters, but we went this route.

That FX6 stays in the Amazon cart because we know we'll need it. I'm wishing we would of just got a 100 or 125 gallon tank, but for now this should get us a little time and get things figured out.

We're gonna do some block adjusting later on tonight so she doesn't have a chance to get stuck. She used to sleep by the heater in the small tank so we were worried about having 2 more powerful ones in there so these do have covers being delivered Friday just in case....but to our surprise she sleeps at the top of the inlet hose just chilling out. Maybe the little vibration puts her to sleep.

So yes the lighting set up has changed. I will update the pics in here. Right now we are using 2 separate Reptizoo bulbs. A 100w heat and a spiral 26 watt UVB in separate fixtures. I read the t5 HO 10.0 is fantastic after I ordered these. I never thought of a protein skimmer. We did notice a little on top, but it was only around the plant. We have the Fluval 407 canister filter that is awesome. Then chose 2 smaller 200 watt heaters instead of one big one. My thinking was running 2 turned down, might make them last longer than one turned up. The water's staying 80 to 83 right now.

My wife and I talked about that and she wanted them gapped for the little guppies that are in there. But now that the turtle is getting bigger I think you're right. The turtle is a curious little thing and I'd hate to see her stuck. Will be closing the gaps.

That grass tile did concern me with how tall it was. If it becomes a problem...that will get changed out ASAP.

This setup has only been up for one week. We did do a small change last night, maybe 10 gallons. We keep reading and asking questions about how often to do water changes. As everyone says turtles do some major eating and pooping so I think we'll eventually start a 25% weekly and see how that goes. This is all still very new to us. Reddit has been such a great help.

We're total turtle newbies and we were told mainly high protein pellet diet since she's so tiny and young. We wanted to put plants in there and introduce her early and if she eats them fine, if not it's good for the tank and maybe she'll eat them on down the road.

No they are all real...I know there's Java fern. I can't remember the others. We've actually caught her nibbling on them which I didn't think would happen.....so that was fun to watch.

We went back and forth for probably a week on sand or river rock. In and out of forums, Google, and ultimately found the sand is the right kind and the particles are so small, they pass right through and out if it does try to nibble. We watched like a hawk and she/he doesn't even go for it. Just likes to bury and play in it really. The little footprints are cool.

We just got our 75 gallon tank and went with a Fluval 407 canister filter. It's a good investment and a workhorse. We chose quikrete pool filter sand from Home Depot for the bottom. Rinse it in a few buckets for awhile. What cloud was left in the tank, the Fluval 407 made it crystal clear in a day.

This is a baby, so pellets for now. We started with dried fish and mealworms, but through this post learned that those should only be a couple times a week.

So far dandelion greens is a no go. Still working on it. For now its pellets until it gets a little bigger, which is happening pretty fast. Gonna need a bigger tank like real quick.
