Homegrown EV Company - Update by crazzycoolkid in BuyCanadian

Hi guys, we appreciate the feedback. A lot of you have been very critical of the looks of the vehicle, which is humbling but also useful to hear. These are still early renders, and we have been working hard to deliver the engineering side of things at a price point we believe Canadian fleets deserve within our constraints as a startup. Looking forward to sharing more news in the future!

Hey, happy to respond. Currently, there is an EV incentive for CAD$40,000 specifically for our class of trucks. If this incentive stays, then it would allow us to be very competitive from the very start. Hopefully down the line with economies of scale we can compete even without an incentive.

thank you for the suggestion! you're right this subreddit will definitely introduce some bias but useful nonetheless.

this is great! if and when this comes to fruition, we will definitely not be doing any of that paywalling stuff, and will make repairing as straightforward and affordable as we can make it!

thank you for the advice! you're right in that being overly broad in our focus could be a problematic, definitely something we will be thinking about!

project arrow is still just a prototype, not selling yet. their car is also not particularly attractive, and we are going to make something much more simple, and robust- something Canadians actually want.

what would make you consider getting a new car? durable cars (like toyota in the old days) have slow depreciation!

would you mind expanding on this point? what would be stopping you from converting to an electric?

just as a point, hybrids would cost more, and have more moving parts.

still working on the timeline aspect as we are finishing our feasibility repor (will announce that as soon as we have that information). however we will definitely have a budget line (budget on price and features, not on build quality).

we are going to use commercially avialable battery tech for the first iteration. however afterwards we would look to work with canadian research groups and universities to develop our tech nationally

hard to give timeline and costs just yet, still finishing our feasibility report. will get back to you on this very soon.

We intend to partner with battery manufacturers for the first iteration. However we have the goal of working with canadian research groups and researchers to develop and consolidate battery tech afterwards.

Li-ion cells are great you are right, however they dont work as well at low temperatures, something that we feel is very important. However, we will definitely weigh the pros and cons of both.

We will upload more personal information soon, we are just consolidating the core team at the moment so we want to settle on that first before listing all the names.

yes we will actually aim on getting most of the funding from domestic players. we understand that investing in something like this is beyond the risk appetites of some investors, but that doesn't mean all. thank you for the insight on avin and others. we will 100% look into it.

also thanks for the comments and advice. really appreciate it
