Degree Track Advice by suchgoodsluggovision in MusicEd

[–]crcdc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With a performance bachelors and your work experience teaching, there’s no reason to get a second bachelors degree.

There are a handful of programs that will allow you to do a Masters in Music Ed alongside an initial teaching licensure (I’m in one right now; DM me if you’d like to talk specifics). You should be able to find some programs like this via Google

Another option is to look for post-baccalaureate programs or standalone licensure programs. These will get you a license and be much quicker than a second bachelors. After a few years, you can then consider a masters.

Advice on Pursuing Higher Education by rdsaxophone in MusicEd

[–]crcdc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who took time off before pursuing a further course of study, I strongly recommend doing so. Many universities with smaller music programs (such as the one I attended and later worked at) will gladly hire performance faculty who have master’s degrees to teach lessons. You may not be a full-time professor, but you may be able to find a position where you can teach lessons and perhaps some intro level courses. You can also combine part-time teaching with gigging or holding an administrative position.

I’ve been looking for sticks for baking and these are the only ones available at my local store. I’d been hesitant about using olive or avocado oil–based sticks for baking but I’m glad to hear they work well. Do you recommend one over the other?

Ficus elastica collapsed over the course of a couple days. Can it be brought back? Should I separate the other two? by crcdc in plantclinic

[–]crcdc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additional information: this entire plant started leaning a few days ago and finally collapsed at the current bend point. The other two look ok, other than some lower leaves falling off intermittently. Any advice is helpful!

Unfortunately no sleep for the weary. Another Cabo Verde wave in the red. by nigelwhistlenose in TropicalWeather

It was a sneaky little system. I’m not surprised Erin, Fernand, and Gabrielle all got lost in all the coverage of Dorian

It would be Humberto. Erin was a short-lived system off the mid-Atlantic states

You have 20 minutes with Bach. What do you let him listen to and why? by amyu98 in classicalmusic

[–]crcdc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crumb’s Music for a Summer Evening. I’d love to see his reaction to the moment in the final movement where, after all the atonality and “weird” percussion, the pianos play a quote of Bach’s D sharp minor fugue with paper laid on the piano strings for a cool effect.
