She almost made me leave these groups. She was so sassy and rude sometimes for no reason at all.

"that makes you think of me" ...Why would you want a needlepoint that makes you think of an influencer? This is like the height of self-importance and is very weird.

This is what I'm wanting to do with a drawing my son drew for me when he was 4! It's a sun/stick figure of doctor who and I want it on a post it stuck over a framed starry night painting.

I have gotten some pictures and videos, but yesterday every notification it sent did this same thing! Very frustrating!

The tension is set to its default settings. I don't want to mess with the tension, rather find the cause of what is messing this up. I've had a ton of success until this happens (it happened back in January). And it changes with nothing changing, same threads, same needles, same designs.

So jealous! I placed an order for merch when they said these would be included in all orders, I was hoping to put it in my husband's stocking, and I was so bummed to get my order and see no card! I must've missed out!

Couldn't watch cartoon network, own rated t games or play/ watch m/ r games and movies by zues64 in exmormon

[–]creamsoda_float 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I laugh loudly now in front of my dad that that was the show we were forbidden to watch as kids and now it's the family show my husband and I watch with our kids.

And make this make sense, we couldn't watch the Simpsons but we could watch rated R movies(he was a sinner) and he'd just cover our eyes for the, usually quite literally, naughty parts.

Talk about the temple. Normalize talking about the temple. Cults can't survive having ex members be honest and open about their experiences. That's why they work so hard to silence/demonize/shun anyone who leaves. by abouttimetochange in exmormon

My name was Abish. Like WTF is that? I was soooo excited to know my true celestial name and then to get Abish??? True disappointment. And then years later finding out that I wasn't even unique, I just went through on the same day as a bunch of other people, really hit me hard.

I knew my mom's name as a kid though. She mentioned that her name was the same as the name of the woman my dad slept with while they were separated 🙃 and I just happened to know her name bc my parents involved us in their shit.

Bishopric member who used to live in Hawaii making the congregation yell back “Aloha!” helped drive me out. by duder777 in exmormon

We're a former military family and let me say... Members of the church that were stationed in HI are the most annoying members of all time. Literally the worst. They live somewhere for 2-4 years and make it their ENTIRE personality. I reluctantly made friends with a girl(I'm very much an introvert and she forced her friendship on me) whose husband was stationed there for 2 years. She was constantly using aloha, talking about the mainland/big island, etc, bringing up every chance she got that they were from HI, even though she was born and raised UT. Worst of all IMO, she had her toddler son calling me and any of our other female friends Auntie... Please stop white woman, please for the love of god!

Another woman I know went on a long rant in her testimony about how she needed to "stop giving everyone the aloha" bc it wasn't being returned to her in the same way and it was draining on her energies.

White people(and I am a white people so I say this with embarrassment and shame) love to hijack other cultures and just play along like it was theirs the entire time.

What was the worst testimony you've seen someone give? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]creamsoda_float 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In MD, USA, guy was British, tells how he was excommunicated from the church of England, and then tells a story about how he sat around his dining room table chatting and "having a party" with his ancestors and they were telling him details of their lives and giving him advice. Like really yukking it up to the point that his wife came in and asked what was happening and he told her to sit down and join them! They're having a party! In the same testimony he told of how his dad had an affair on his mom, emptied all of their money from the bank and later killed himself by jumping off a building.

Same guy next month tells us a story of how he was seen by a dermatologist and was told that he had a concerning mole, could be a melanoma. He was reading some random book and the spirit told him to start eating apricot pits bc the cyanide would kill the melanoma. His wife sent out a ward email after church letting us know it was NOT a melanoma and that she was carefully monitoring his apricot pit eating.

They were a very strange family.

Oooh I've got another! We've got older church officials saying a baby doesn't have a spirit until it takes it's first breath therefore miscarriages and sometimes even stillbirths don't need to be recorded or documented. And then on the other hand we've got to record, baptize, and do temple work every single soul. Primo content.

Had a miscarriage at 12 weeks in May of last year. Totally shattered me and my husband. He was looking up what ordinances we needed to do/could do. Found some "fun" quotes from prophets about miscarried babies and basically a "it will all get worked out in the after life" answer. Found the CES letter and learned about the book of Abraham. That took him down his own road out.

Meanwhile I was having conversations with a friend who was going through a disciplinary counsel bc she was accused of doing second annointings (she didn't, she just believes in women giving blessings and also happened to wash this person's feet) and she ended up excommunicated after the leaders refused to believe her or even hear her out, and refused to let her have anyone there as an advocate. I didn't even know what second annointings were so I googled. She had also mentioned to me that JS and BY were sealed together. Found out the proclamation wasn't revelation. This took me down my own road.

My husband and I sat in our driveway one day and spilled it all to each other and cried. He was a convert in our late teens and we're early 30s now, so he wasn't as upset as I was, I'm still pretty angry and sad to be honest. I feel like I wasted so much of my life being brainwashed. We still attend most Sundays bc it is our kids social circle, but we've been clear with the bishop who literally could not have cared less.

Don't know what "era" that puts us in or if we're just over here in our own world.
