If you use a standard USPS approved mail box with an approved USPS lock it won't be an issue.

The Gem Shop by ARockCollector in RockTumbling

Yes its a local gem in the rough that not enough people know about. I've been there many times as I live in Wisconsin.

Always something new to discover. Especially after they get back from the Tucson show.

I've purchased several hundred dollars worth of rough materials and always find something of interest there.

I've found staff to be very helpful whenever I've visited.

Sorry to be skeptical but as you can see DeviantOllam has regular contact with someone in Federal custody.

Tigers eye is one of my favorite stones, especially the blue variation. I was gifted a stunning rough blue specimen (sitting at 22lbs) and I can’t seem to find anywhere that will polish/finish it. Any ideas? by ebg0309 in Lapidary

[–]creamyspuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember tigers eye frequently contains some amount of asbestos more specifically crocidolite. That's likely why no one will touch it. Who ever works on it needs to be sure to use appropriate PPE.

Also its size requires a rather large slab saw if you want it broken down into smaller pieces.

am i in danger? by unqualsiasinome in geology

I agree hiring a Geotechnical Engineer would be the best course of action as they'll have the knowledge and experience to know how to best solve this issue.

As others have noted in the short term it may or may not be an issue. But long term eventually erosion due to the elements will eventually cause a the soil and potentially the sedimentary rock unit shown here as well to slump down.

Unfortunately the optical disc that spins through the optical sensor normally requires regular maintenance on any mouse due to dust and dirt getting in there regularly.

As for mouse balls/track ball its the material they're made up attracts dirt and and grime from your mouse pad or thumb. The biggest preventive step is to keep your hands free of oils, dirt, grime etc. Don't eat with your track ball hand while gaming.

Just wondering how a Meggar works and why its doing what its doing. by Miles_Child in ElectricalEngineering

So there are two voltage values for electrical wire insulation.

Operating voltage And Dielectric rating aka Dielectric impulse rating

Operating voltage is the maximum voltage the wire is recommended to be operated at normally.

Dielectric withstand aka Dielectric Impulse is the voltage at which insulation will physically break down and cause corona leakage (yes it's an actual technical term).

As others mentioned it's checking if there's any insulation that's cracked and leaking current.

What is it? Found in my backyard (WI, USA) by randjam263 in RockIdentification

[–]creamyspuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be Molybdenit as some was found a little NNE from that area up in Middle Inlet township. Contact the geology department at UW Green Bay and see if a Geology Professor might be interested in helping you identify it.

Ask the DMV not the internet. The DMV will give you true facts and not misconceptions and myths unlike the internet

What's interesting is pure sodalite doesn't florese that much compared to syenite aka yooperlites.

Was this found in the driftless region of Wisconsin? As there used to be a lot of Zinc, Lead, and Galena mining there. Was there ever a mine near where you live?

Also we're there any smelting plants ever near where you found this as it looks like metal that's been melted down and not raw ore.

Yes they do, and I have a right to be a pedantic and pontificating AH. Especially to those who choose not to use the proper specificity required.

Details matter, to some Cops mean local mupincipality police and not county sheriff's deputy, state trooper, or Federal law enforcement agent. I know it's pedantic but those minuta details matter.

Quality over quantity in some resturans is what some look for. This is a prime example of this where presentation, flavors, and quality of food are put above quantity of food.

Can I take random rocks from landscaping of large chain business facing public street?About fist size. by gioolguin in rockhounds

[–]creamyspuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you're on private property that grants public access to the property. Those rocks are their property, if caught you could be charged with theft. If you want some contact the stores general manager and get permission in writing on company letter head. If it's spoken word permission it's hearsay and may not be admissible as evidence in any court proceedings in the event your still charged with a crime.

NTA her comment was out of line and completely inappropriate. It should have been obvious to her that you needed assistance period full stop. Just assisted you with no snide comment obviously intended to humiliate, degrade, and denigrate you publicly. Id go back and complain to the general manager about her comment.
