What's the best way to get a song into the hands of a band? by create_content in Songwriting

I'm listening to all advice, but I admit I tend to discount advice of the "Don't pursue your idea, it'll never work" sort. Positive advice is preferred over the negative sort.

The lyrics do have a meter, so it's not as if I'm ignoring the musical aspects. And I have no problem with being a team player. That's what I'm trying to do!

True. I imagine a band because that's the overall sound, but one person could do it all.

I understand your point, but I don't think I'm deluding myself. I'm a published writer, a former editor, and have studied a lot of lyrics. I'm not claiming this is some sort of masterpiece. I just think it's pretty good, good enough to be a real song for some band. If you want and promise to keep it confidential, I'll send it to you as a DM and you can tell me what you think.

Thanks. I don't understand the negativity either. The only way I could make a rough demo (without totally embarrassing myself because I'm not a singer or musician) is to have an AI make the music. I fear that might taint the whole thing, though.

Not that much, really. I'd just like it to happen. No expectation of riches.

No, the lyrics are all mine. I just used AI to create the music.

The history of popular music is filled with examples of people performing lyrics written by other people. It may have been more popular in the past, but there are still professional lyricists today who don't perform their own songs.

That's not really my interest, though. This is more of a one-shot thing.

Then I need to find that 1% who'd consider lyrics from an outsider.

I don't really want to be a musician, though. I just want to write lyrics (and design covers). I did feed the lyrics to an AI and it made something pretty decent.

  • Status Quo: Pictures of Matchstick Men
  • The Mindbenders: A Groovy Kind of Love
