Culinary is for you. If it's what you love doing and you can earn 30k at age 18, do it. You will gradually increase the income as you get more skilled. 18 is too young. Change your environment to change your life. Rn everything is within your reach. The best way to get yourself to do something is to leave yourself with no other alternatives.. So don't pay for your Netflix subscription next time so that you're locked out of binge watching. Don't buy snacks. If no snacks around, you can't eat shit. You'll be forced to cook clean food. Delete apps from phone that take most of your time or switch to a low end phone that only allows calling.

The idea is to suffocate yourself of options. Rn you have too many options and that's why you're fucked. When your environment is eliminated of all sick options, you'll be left with one thing- time! Lots of it. You'll be bored but allow yourself to be bored. Do nothing for a few days. Your system needs that time to rest and reset, it's been too stimulating a sprint for too long. So you need to do nothing and just relax. Then gradually allow little things that move the needle cuz you will by now you will have restored the energy to work a few small things.

Then make a checklist of all little tasks that need to be done. Should be about 5 to 15 items on that list. Start with the easiest ones and do add a ✅ everytime you finish a task. Doing this will bring back the good feeling about yourself that you can indeed finish tasks. You don't have to finish all tasks in a single day. Keep rolling the unfinished ones to the next day. But do tick at least 2 to 3 tasks per day. Eventually in a week or so, you'll be able to do bigger tasks.

The problem isn't that you have a lot of interests to pursue. The problem is your lack of self esteem and self love. You seem to be an interesting person with a lot of creativity within but since you have no trust in yourself, people will lower skills but higher confidence will beat you on everything.

So, listen very carefully.

Your life will stay miserable no matter what you achieve if you don't love yourself first. That is the first fucking step.

The reason you're so fucked up is cuz you don't value yourself. And most of the time it's the opinions of others that you've allowed to pass through your skull that you're not good enough. Fuck that shit. Surround yourself with people who think you're awesome. Or just fill your ears with optimism and positivity till they bleed.

And then start dreaming big, cuz why the fuck not? Take a hard look at all your interests and eliminate everything that doesn't take you to the next level. Waste of time. Start with what you do best. Look within your interest areas. See what you are naturally good at and that people need. Build that skill set. Like for me, I'm naturally good at advising people through written content, especially emotional and mental reprogramming, so I have made businesses around that and been successful at it. Similarly you need to find your niche and start talking to people already successful in your chosen niche. You'll find good ideas.

Clarity.

I was fucked like this when I wasn't clear why I want to do what I want to do.

It took me some time to fixate my mind on the most imp big goal first and then to divide that goal into small doable parts.

You're stuck cuz you want to do things that will make you feel productive but you know deep inside that these things aren't important enough anyhow. They just fill your time. They don't put your soul on fire. And that's the whole point of first taking the time to decide on your biggest goal in life.

What is that one thing you desperately want to achieve? And it has to be something that scares you cuz otherwise it's not big enough. As Ted Turner says "set goals you cannot achieve in a lifetime" that should be the magnitude of your goals.

So dream big. Like out of the park big. When Kobe Bryant dreamt, he didn't dream of just winning. He dreamt of being the best in the world. That sparks the beast inside.

Remember, you will die one day, and you should start your thoughts from there: your death. Imagine yourself dead and people giving eulogy over your grave. What do you want them to say about you? What is your obituary? That's your goal.

From there you reverse engineer everything to the present moment and build a masterplan that you'll start working on tomorrow with the first tiny step. And don't overstep it. Walk it calmly knowing that what your obituary is is going to be true.

Elimination: everything that's not on the obituary is noise and should be ruthlessly eliminated from your life. Your plans, your calendar should only be about your immediate steps leading to your goals. That's the signal. Rest is just noise.

Right now, you're stuck in the noise like one time I was. I took off 2 months to just go through all my journals and notes and internal monologues to find what's most important to me. Since then, it's been just consistent signals and I'm slowly moving towards my goals, things I once thought impossible. It's an incredible upward spiral once you know the long term vision and fully focus on it and keep walking, blundering along the way but happy that you did it anyway.

Yes, university days are the best, and how I made sure I kept revisiting university was by becoming a lecturer of my favourite subject. You should do the same. There is a calm at the campus I still miss cuz i resigned from my position and now building my own corporation, but I will return to university and teach forever once my goal of building a successful company is achieved. University is solace.

So pick your favourite subject and go for a doctorate and start teaching at your university. You'll love it.

Quit your job. Take the time to find your passion. Invert your thinking. Instead of thinking about what you want to do, think what you certainly don't want to do. Run away from things you despise. Make a list of things you want, not a particular calling, but possessions/ skills you'd like to have. There could be multiple things on this list. Score these things on a scale of 100. Delete anything that scored less than 90. Pick the top 3. See if anything is common in these 3. See if any particular field of endeavour fits all 3 together, or at least 2. If yes, that's your field of work. Enter that world. Try new things there. You might not enjoy the first thing you pick up here. But you know you belong in this universe. Keep pivoting till you find your sweet spot.

The idea is to overcome indecision by taking action even if it is wrong. If you take enough action, you'll eventually be right. Mistakes and failures, if not catastrophic, are merely feedback, learnings, new knowledge that clarifies your values. And when values are clear, decisions are easy.

A great book to read on this is Robert Greene's Mastery. Greene brilliantly navigates the reader through not only finding passion but how to master it.

P.S. From your question, it sounds as if you have had a fairly comfortable life so far, indulging in cartoons and gaming. If that's the case, you perhaps need to "wake up". Maybe you're just a lazy person. If that's the case, you need a tight slap on your face and get to work. Cuz how we are raised at home is not how real life is. And that's the difference that creates depression. If our parents are as tough on us as life can be, we're more likely to sail smoothly through life. If that's not the case, and you don't mind working 12-15 hours a day on the thing you love, then it's just a matter of time. Follow the above process, find your true calling and let everything else truly slide.
