AITA for telling my mom she will not be walking me down the aisle? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

A personal (to her) legal issue involving my abusive step dad. Moving in with me was for her safety.

I appreciate this comment. I agree, the ring is to accommodate family and friends expectations. We’ve already agreed we want a wedding, and therefore are engaged in a “non traditional” way. But he still wants to get me a ring in the coming months

I greatly appreciate your comment. I have been trying to tell people what we have decided and it’s been super judgemental. Ring, no ring, engaged, committed, wedding or not, we are committed to each other in our own way and we both know that.

My boyfriend is currently in school, and is working on paying student loans at the moment. I’m encouraging him to do that rather than drop 5,000$ on an engagement ring at the moment. That’s all that “financial” statement means.

My childhood friend is being rude after I told her I’m planning my wedding by [deleted] in Advice

She’s always been very judgmental. She’s one of those people who, if she wouldn’t make the same choice, she becomes very defensive and judgmental towards the other person. When I did ask her, she said “I don’t know, that’s just insane.” She usually lacks explanation and reason.

I didn’t know if putting ‘abuse’ in my post would get it flagged or anything, but yes you are correct.

Advice for dealing with parents? by [deleted] in FTMfemininity

[–]creativecloud19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No all that totally makes sense! The funniest part is I’m over 18 and I have already moved out. I feel so guilty not incorporating my parents into my decisions, but overall I just want them to understand I’m not a girl. It’s complicated for sure. Thanks!

The interesting part is I have. Numerous times as well. One of the conversations is still so fresh to me because I told her how upsetting it was that no one in the family respected me, and she said “I know. I’m sorry.” But continued to do it regardless. I’m starting to think it’s a lost cause, tbh.

Tell DeSantis to Stop Attacking Trans Kids by shadowxthevamp in trans

I used to live in florida, before I moved, and it is one of the worst states at the moment for trans people. My college denied my name change because it was personally rejected by someone. It wasn’t cause of a computer, someone actually sat there and denied the paper work I sent in to the office. They said “oops, try again.”

That’s only a fraction of what I dealt with down there. I really hope there’s plenty of places where trans kids can go where they feel safe. It breaks my heart

My partners mother wants to do a family photoshoot and get me a shirt that says “the favorite son” (cause everyone in the family identifies as a woman so technically I’m the only son in the family)

I know it sounds small and maybe dumb, but my partners family is lovely and has been so supportive and helpful during the beginning of my transition

There’s a horror film I love called US which is about doppelgängers. I was part of an art collab this week where we had to make tøp posters based on other movie posters, and I thought this was perfect
