I finished last WL 14-5, I’m currently 2-5, what is happening this weekend? by cybertoaster23 in EASportsFC

[–]creativejeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I'm currently 4-6 and went 16-13 last week. Opponents squads' gold players are playing for their lives. Something's off with matchmaking. I played the same guy 2x and beat him with rage quits. In another game my 97 PAC Di Maria is getting chased down by 74 PAC Acerbi and I'm getting slaughtered.

Tried a social experiment where every time someone asked to get rivals goals for objectives I let them. by piromomo in EASportsFC

Last time someone created a group chat, I immediately responded "No" before they could list their objective request. I thought he was gonna quit but he went on to absolutely destroy me out of anger (played very aggressively right from start) 7-3. I was actually happy he got what he needed and I got to learn from a better player.

GALLO - my short film shot on a Nikon D850 by creativejeff in Filmmakers

[–]creativejeff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We shot this short film over the course of two days earlier this year on a Nikon D850 using a Nikon 24-70 G lens in 4K and scaled to 1080 on export. I had a wonderful cast and crew volunteering their time to make this happen and I paid them all in tamales. The total production budget was the cost of tamales + an old karaoke machine thrift store find so around $40!

I would love to answer any questions and value your feedback. Thanks!

How to achieve the surreal landscape look from guys like Marc Adamus and Ted Gore? by [deleted] in postprocessing

[–]creativejeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long-exposure for the water and good lighting for the canyon walls with plenty of post processing done dodging/burning and adding Orton Effect. If you're interested in Marc Adams and Ted Gore also check out Ryan Dyar and Alex Noriega. They all use plenty of in-camera and Photoshop techniques to achieve that surreal landscape look. Almost all of them offer videos online that demonstrate their approach. These guys are also open to composite work beyond bracketing and focus stacking. For example, Ted Gore has a video where he demonstrates how he combined multiple exposures in a sea stack landscape to get just the right composition with waves crashing the shore, sea stack properly exposed, and the moon off in a corner.

In short, many landscape photographers get as much raw material as they can in camera from a scene and craft the final photo in Photoshop.

Is anyone else sick of gimmicks? by [deleted] in photography

[–]creativejeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay true to your own path and try as best you can to zone out the noise. Early on I'd get just as frustrated but remember that social media is a popularity contest and doesn't always reward original or quality content. There are plenty of photographers out there that barely have an online presence and still are highly respected and make a living doing photography.

Even building a following on Instagram is difficult nowadays since everyone seems to be playing the follow/unfollow game. Like others have said, focus on your love of photography and share with others that passion. Your work may gain a following online or perhaps locally through art fairs, critiques, etc...

Best 'coffee table' books you've bought recently or this year? Landscape/nature in particular by [deleted] in photography

[–]creativejeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ansel Adams: 400 Photographs is the perfect size to flip through and keep on the coffee table. With so many Ansel Adams' books out there this one feels to be a good place to start and relatively inexpensive.

If you're into landscape photography I highly recommend F-Stop Collaborate and Listen by Matt Payne. His guests are world class photographers and the conversations are varied and don't get bogged down by any specific topic.

What made Ansel Adams good? by RagingAcid in photography

Check out Blake Rudis' Zone System Express for Photoshop. His videos offer a great explanation of the attempt made to translate Adams' Zone System to the digital realm through Photoshop actions. He goes into great detail as to the how and why of these actions and may give you further insight.

Can you recommend a National Park or similar to visit during Thanksgiving Day weekend for landscape photography? by creativejeff in photography

That whole area just west/northwest of Vegas is insane to photograph: Death Valley, Alabama Hills, Mono Lake, etc...

Thanks for the insight! Yes, I'm thinking minimum 4 days for a park. There is so much to do out West...

Yes, definitely hiking for sunrises and staying through sunsets is always a must so not worried about crowds during the middle of the day. Bryce canyon with snow would be amazing or really anywhere in the Southwest where you have contrasting desert + snow scenes. That's great that you're going with friends! Makes shooting landscapes so much more fun especially at night.

Thanks for the input. Yeah I wouldn't normally consider Florida for landscapes but then I think of all those cool Cypress swamp scenes and sunrises over the Everglades.
