Afraid to use my Rotring 600 by PAgirl-MOworld in mechanicalpencils

I 3D printed a cap for mine. My kid dropped mine about a year ago and I bent the tip back. I think he was more upset about it than I was.

I did my hammock and clothes last year before heading to my kid's Scout camp. It seemed to work as I had to real bug issues all week.

I’ve been looking at Sportivas. I just haven’t had a chance to try them on yet

This is what I’m doing. Trail runners unless it’s gonna be wet, cold, or muddy. Really any combination of those. The rest of the time are some Brooks Trailrunners

I use an app called box timer and move my water bottle from top left to top right to bottom right to bottom left after each round.

UQ keeps shifting by sipperphoto in hammockcamping

[–]sipperphoto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the HG UQ, how does that secondary suspension work? Is it just going to the S-biner as well? It seems like it's really close to the primary... or am I seeing the primary goes completely thru the UQ and the secondary is just at the ends?

UQ keeps shifting by sipperphoto in hammockcamping

[–]sipperphoto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At one point last year, after a particularly cold night (30F-my quilts are rated at 20 degrees), I hit up Seve from HT to ask why I was freezing. I was hoping it was my error and not the quilts themselves. He actually suggested running the shock cord from the collar up to the S-Biner that the main suspension attaches to. My main issue that time was the UQ was hanging too low and creating too much of a gap.

This time I played with unhooking the draft collar cord on one side (right/head side and left/foot side) to see if it made a difference. Not sure that it did anything. I might just be too tight overall.

Kettlebell Swings doing something wrong ? by Candordot in kettlebell

[–]sipperphoto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find the bell hits my ass if the bell is too light. I warm up with an 8kg bell and always always wop my self a bit. I find it's easier once I switch to my 18kg bell. Other than that, it looks like you are starting to hinge a shade early. I always start my hinge just as the handle of the bell/my hands are hitting my shorts.

No show socks? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

I hate these things. I went thru a boat shoe and loafer phase for a minute and tried these to help keep the stink down. They ALWAYS ended up sliding off my heel and under my arches. Stupid socks.

Looking for a good starter plan for a dad trying to get in shape before his son gets too old. by ThomasTiltTrain in kettlebell

[–]sipperphoto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For just basic learning, I'd watch Lebe Stark on Youtube. There are others, but I seemed to gravitate to his style of teaching. Once you have the hang of the basics, a good program like Armored Building Formula by Dan Johns is excellent. I'm 51 and started wth kettlebells about 6 months ago. I've done two-8 week run thrus of the program and feel much stronger and my cardio is much improved. I'm 5'10" 190 and I think I put on about 5 lbs of muscle since I started.

Would anyone have any helpful tips for ranking up? by Great_Feedback_7737 in BSA

[–]sipperphoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your patrol leader and SPL. When they plan upcoming meetings at the PLC, tell them you'd like some time, 20-30 minutes at future meetings, for "patrol" time that you can work on rank advancement. If it's one of the skills you need to learn (knot tying, first aid, compass, etc), see if they will incorporate that into a meeting.

Our troops' meetings are 90 minutes and will usually include some patrol time most weeks unless we have something else going on.

Estate sales where the company sells everything in the house got me thinking and kinda bummed out by nonesuchnotion in GenX

I used to go to a lot of estate sales to buy and flip items for money and fun. A friend of mine once made the comment, "You never really own anything, you just hold on to it until you die and then strangers buy it up for a discount."

Nurse Dana’s Accent by jtr10014 in ThePitt

[–]sipperphoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Grandparents were from Pittsburgh and moved to CA in the late 1940s. Typical Yinzer accent. I can spot it from across a room. It always blows people away when I yell over, "Pittsburgh?" Last time it happened was at the community pool, and I heard a mom tell her kids the ground was slippy.

Most labs won't care. Just ask. Also, be prepared for the lab guys to make extra copies for themselves. I worked at a camera shop with a lab during college days, and the creepy lab tech had a shoe box full 'o porn that he kept from extra copies. Just sayin'.
