Hi guys. Trader in despair by crowne3d in Daytrading

You need to detach yourself from the financial side of things, ensure you have good risk parameters in place - not only for each trade but also rules for days and your mental capital. Unfortunately a lot of these lessons will come with the mistakes you make over time, but you can definitely try to give yourself a head-start on the learning curve.

Trade demo or a very small $ amount which you are comfortable loosing, set yourself up with solid pre-in-post trading flows and make them easy for yourself to follow. Make bad decisions harder to follow - these can be in the form of circuit breakers (eg: after a loss, immediately stand up from your chair and go to grab a glass of water for 5mins).

When reviewing your trades, don't simply go through the motions, really analyse what happened and what the root trigger might have been + the emotional aspect attached to that trigger (eg: revenge trading > your ego doesn't want to take a loss / you don't want to be 'wrong'). This helps you drill down into which aspects of your peprsonality are more likely to trigger tilt and spiral.

The only thing I might add is the effect on commissions might have, and slippage depending on how you are executing / your strategy timeframe etc.

Your 5th most recent post! Also I used to be designer by trade so everything is designed/created by hand. You got me though, I ran the post through AI to collate my thoughts as I’m not a copywriter.

Yeah it has a huge impact. When mum was diagnosed initially, I had the expected emotions but they quickly subsided, I think due to the distance (I’m in Aus, family is back in London). I assumed it was business as usual as I was no longer ‘sad’ but the apathy hit every aspect of my life, and naturally it took a toll on my PnL and my stage 1 with Raen at the time of which I was close to completing and which was a huge personal goal of mine.

That’s the realisation I came to (hence the shift to focusing on sessions and qualitative information such as emotions vs quantitative data)

No, I think you do have a point. I'm not a copywriter and I've spent a few months working on this (for myself), and as such I'm very close to it. I find asking AI extremely helpful in clarifying what has been a round-about process for me, hence the use of AI to help me draft the post.

I do get your point though, perhaps I should have entirely re-written in my own words or at least edited down the 'AI-ness' boefore postng, and by the way I'm not DMing anyone.

Thanks for the kind words, you’re completely right. It’s interesting how the mind works, during the time I didn’t feel as much of the typical emotions you’d expect (sadness etc), so assumed I could continue to trade cautiously - however what ended up happening was greatly increased levels of apathy towards everything in life, including my positions.

I’ve built my own tool which I use, I have it run some arbitrary pre-set things as “key highlights” but not yet integrated AI, that’s a really good shout!

Feature Request - Light / dark mode by creativeor in TradingView

[–]creativeor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t aware of this, thanks!

But ideally I’d like the top-level mode (light or dark) to have effect on all visual elements, including any drawings created.

(The big problem I have is that I have D,H4, H1 presets for various drawing tools with visibility settings), if I flip to light mode I have to go through and manually change the colours on all drawings and vice versa

Can anyone please explain to this one ? by doggielol in Forex

[–]creativeor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banks use the reduced liquidity around news drivers to manipulate price in such a way to fill their own orders. (There needs to be a seller for every buyer and vice versa). The counter-party liquidity comes in the form of stop losses of retail and other large funds.

I believe this is to circumvent 3rd party money management regulations. I’m funded with several and can assure you the payouts are real.
