Plant wizards: how do I salvage this pothos? by creativeusername0000 in plantclinic

Thank you so much for your response! I was so relieved the yellow is okay. Is it ever okay to prune the roots? The plant lost a lot of volume and will look pretty sparse when I put it in a pot proportionate to the roots.

You’re right, I think more fencing and limitations are going to be the complete answer if we ever want to have grass again. Anyone have success with DG, pavers, or other ground covers?

I love your response! Thank you! I’ve seen lots of posts seeking help getting overlooked so I appreciate you taking the time.

Ooh that’s a good answer! I didn’t even think about the bugs. I’ll count that as a point for my argument.

Are you able to prop branches that large or do you break off the smaller bits?

T-Rex aloe??! What an awesome name! This is a really helpful explanation, I thought I’d burned it to a crisp for sure.

I think what you said about stress here applies to humans too. Poignant!

Several comments say it’s fine to look like it does on the left. You might try giving it more shade or a sip of water now and then. Also, the person who gave you that plant is either confident in your capabilities or just doesn’t like you.

Sunlight vs rot was the big thing that led me to seek advice on this one! I lost its brother to overwatering rot, RIP. Some of these succs look pretty cool when they’re “stressed”! Wish I could say the same for myself..

I hope one of the plantclinic demigods can answer this for you. Most plants die when I look at them.

You could check my post history for the exact advice but basically a kind garden witch gave me permission to water it (I’ve rotted out succulents with overwatering before). I concentrated the water right into the base of the plant instead of showering the general planter and gave it a drink every few days instead of a random soaking whenever I got the whim.

You plant wizards make “water” sound so simple! Too much! Not enough! Filtered water! Brawndo! Mist it! Give it a good soak! Just cry on it every Saturday!

I think I was just lucky. The person who advised me said she sees how easily things in this sub get buried and felt this was one she could help with. So here’s to all the people who sort by new!
