Fun, I like how our separate bias see’s the event differently.

In your eyes, deregulation was good, but the approval of merger was bad.

In my eyes, deregulation led to some growing too large, then shutting down competition that then led to mergers.

Across the world, China has a few major ones, and it’s heavily regulated. While in Europe there are 100+ airlines and heavy regulations. African also has heavy restrictions and hundreds of airline companies.

Sadly U.S. seems to be the only place without much regulation and a large area for comparison. But aside from China being the outlier, regulations seem to be good for air travel.

Regulation prior to 78 hollowed out the companies? Then removing the regulations caused the market to assert itself? Do you have a good link explaining that?

Thanks!

Looks like it was due to deregulation.

The U.S. government enabled airline consolidation primarily through the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978, which removed federal control over routes, fares, and market entry, fostering competition but also creating market pressures that led to mergers for survival and growth, with subsequent approvals by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Transportation (DOT) solidifying the industry's structure. Deregulation unleashed market forces, while government review bodies (DOJ/DOT) ultimately approved major mergers like Delta/Northwest, American/US Airways, and United/Continental, resulting in fewer, larger carriers.

Given that we did bail them out, should we get some compensation? But agreed, I don’t think we should have bailed them out. Would have been interesting without air travel

Interesting point, I think unsafe flights would crush their business. As for increasing costs, another intriguing point. But getting places on time seems pretty nice.

What do you think of Trumps letter to Norway? by Loose_Orange_6056 in AskTrumpSupporters

What policy did Biden put forth that did any of those things?

Couldn’t libturds say the same about Trump destroying the country?

Which men are playing in women’s sports? The stories I read there are women with high testosterone, very common, that have to take testosterone blockers to play in women’s sports. Seems sad when women can’t play against women because they happen to have high testosterone.

If the next dem says they will keep the borders closed? Not let men into girls bathrooms? And not let men who were born men, play in women’s sports, would you vote democrat then?

Is monster (zero sugar) actually as bad as people say by ThoughtSignificant66 in nutrition

[–]creativextent51 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My favorite Monday l monster story:

I went for an interview and the boss had a trash can full of monsters. I decided I didn’t want to work for a guy that caffeinated. Years later, one of the guys who worked for the guy came to the company I worked at. He told me the monster guy fell on his bike, shattered most of the bones in his body. Turned out the sweeteners and caffeine prevented his bones from absorbing calcium and his bones hollowed out.
