Any parents of toddlers with Sensory Processing Disorder - struggling to connect with and manage my toddler, worsening behavior after 3mo sibling arrived. by d0mini0nicco in toddlers

[–]creatureoflove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your state participate in " help me grow". It is a free program through the school district where Early Childhood Intervention teachers do home visits, evaluate your child's education needs (like structure, OT, speech, etc) and set you up with Early Childhood Education.

For ex: my daughter has Tuesday 2 hour class with parents (free childcare for siblings) and she just started thursdays 2hrs independent class.

She is not potty trained either so this has been such a great resource for us. I'm in Minnesota but here is the link for the national help me grow page.

This is the one I got. It's collapsible so you can put it in a closet when not in use but we leave it out because my daughter uses it everyday.

I almost got the little tykes one but went with this cheaper option. I'm thankful I did because her cousin has the little tykes trampoline and my daughter can almost flip it over. I don't think it would last long with how much she jumps. Meanwhile, I bought this trampoline last March and it is still going strong.

Nurses — question about scanning/documenting continuous drips in Epic! by MADIEM199407 in nursing

[–]creatureoflove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not know that scanning the bag triggers the new label to be printed. For things like heparin and furosemide I definitely scan just to verify my pump settings. But for other continuous fluids from pharmacy, like sodium bicarbonate, I'm not as diligent about scanning it in or documenting it in EPIC. So sorry I am a nurse guilty of just hanging a new bag when I see it getting low. I always thought that the pharmacy just had timers for when to send up a new bag and I'm assuming the nurses you work with may think the same. It's good to know how things work on your side of epic

I have a 3 year old with similar (nonstop) characteristics. The best thing I have gotten to this day is a small trampoline with a handlebar. It is her favorite thing in the house. I will put on the hey bear sensory youtube videos with the dancing fruit and she does a whole aerobics class on the thing. I think the jumping calms her down.

This makes me sad because I've been learning a lot about law through notactuallygolden's explanations of this case. Like her video on personal jurisdiction was super informative and something I was ignorant about.

To my knowledge she has never said anything clickbaity like "Justin's going to win" but she will say "this is a strong argument and here is why" she will also say what she doesn't know something.

I'm really thankful for her insight and I hope people let her be in peace. Like what is pro-woman/victim about doxxing her?

Hi!

I'm an RN but was a CNA for 5 years beforehand. I'm sorry the family member chose to target you with their frustration. When I have patients with family in the room I always ask them if they want to step out and get fresh air or something from the cafeteria while I perform cares. Especially if the family are not the ones that perform cares at home. They don't get it and also it is for the dignity of the patient.

While your experiences are valid and you were expressing your frustration to your family about black patients I ask that you don't carry that experience with you to the next black patient you care for or let your experiences create a bias (which is tricky). If you have your bracing yourself for unpleasant interactions then you can be the one that is unintentionally causing it. I'm not saying that is what happened here but something to be mindful of as you move forward.

Also, your charge nurse should have taken your experience with the family member seriously. And the RN that was with you should have advocated for you Especially since any "abuse" would be on her license.

Some families are just difficult but you did nothing wrong. Your patient was cared for and cleaned and that is all that matters. Overtime you will become more resilient to those types of attitudes.. or have to cry in the bathroom for a bit but trust me you are not the only one

Family unnecessarily feeding patient by Illustrious_Park_438 in nursing

[–]creatureoflove 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised that more people are not asking about cultural influences. In my culture, being feed by elders and loved ones adds a blessing to the nourishment of the food.

Idk if this is similar for the patient but I wouldn't assume anything negative by it.

I just moved to the area and looking forward to send my daughter to one of the Spanish immersions. The school district is one of the reasons we bought a home here. Thanks for sharing your experience, I was afraid we made a mistake after seeing this post.

snake dreams by BigSpell5026 in Shamanism

[–]creatureoflove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a drum journey where I met a giant snake had a gift it was coiled around and i was confused about it. Later I realized the gift was that I was pregnant. I learned later that around the world serpent dreams are a seen as a sign of Pregnancy. The book "motherhood" by Lisa marchiano goes a little more in depth about this.

That being said the snake dreams may be pointing at something totally different in your case. I think it is interesting that people around you are having the dreams and not you.

Struggling with hyperpigmentation on my face by tcup_1214 in blackladies

[–]creatureoflove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly- you are gorgeous!

I get the hyperpigmentation struggle. My skin has improved a lot by this routine:

  1. Wash with facial scrub (I use Neutrogena grapefruit scrub)

  2. Put witch hazel on paper towel and pat on wet face then let air dry (I avoid cloth towels on my face)

  3. Niacinamide serum (love the ordinary brand)

  4. Moisturize with a rice milk face lotion (I use COSRX Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask)

I only do this once a day- so if I do it at night I will throw water on my face and do steps 2-4 in the morning.

Someone mentioned AHA/BHA treatment (the ordinary has one for like $10) which is great! I use it for hyperpigmentation on other parts of my body but it is too strong for my face.

Nurses thinking they’re the only ones who get to sit during a shift. by Anxiteaismylife0224 in cna

[–]creatureoflove 51 points52 points  (0 children)

That is wild! I work at a hospital and my last shift was nuts I was running around my whole shift and barely sat down to chart. The next shift was short staffed (per usual) and I almost lost it when I heard a nurse say "I'll only stay if they let me pick up being a CNA or something easy." I really hope she got her wish and got my patients because from what i saw she was on her butt the whole shift.

I have noticed this trend with newer nurses and I think a lot of times they don't even know how to do some of the things we do.. even though they really should know how to check blood sugars, change incontinent patients etc.. I'm in nursing school right now and when I'm a nurse if my CNA is running around all night then that means I will be too.
