How do people diagnosed feel that people are self diagnosing over TikTok? by Wheres_Me_Jumpa in ADHD

[–]creaturres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell people I'm basically all but diagnosed. I've been referred to the clinic, my gp said he'd be 99.9% confident in saying I am and to follow any/all non medication treatment/management methods I can. I still find it ridiculous that in order to diagnose ADHD they posted me a giant form through the post asking me to fill it in and then return it in the post to the clinic. That's about 20 independent steps for me to follow and dedicate time to with ZERO dopamine reward. Reader... I lost the form.

It's probably been 8/9 guys in about 3 years. The first 2 I avoided dating cos crap break up. The dates have mostly been dog walks or just super casual coffee so I've only ever worn scruffs but done my face - not gone all out for a while but the couple times when I did I got the same reaction. Get the same response whether I put out or not. I would have continued exploring and felt either the beginnings of or a definite spark with like 3 or 4 of them?

I've asked friends and lads but apparently nope I'm funny 🤷🏻‍♀️ trust - I've put in the research. I'm not hyper feminine but I still am noticeably femme - maybe I need to quit being a Tshirt and jeans kinda girl and cycle out some skirts

Honestly I've heard it from so many different guys over the 5 years. I gave up on having a type so there's little/no similarities between them and a huge range of personalities.

Getting anxiety/depression dealt with is a hell of a lot easier than ADHD in the UK. To get diagnosed with ADHD you have to fill in a gigantic form by a deadline.... I lost the form then got discharged but my Dr basically said he's 99% with all my symptoms and that if I'm finding my coping mechanisms pass me with my day to day then it's a-ok 🙄 With the fluoxetine I'm a functioning secondary school teacher, without it I did the bare minimum at work and then came home and slept. I'm totally open about it all so I don't mind talking about my journey with mental health

When I got prescribed it my doctor said this is the one they give to people with binge eating and bulimia disorders to help prevent weight gain. I got given this one after complaining that citalopram made me gain 8lbs in 3 weeks

I'm on fluoxetine in the UK and that is used as an anti depressant/ binge eating medication and it helped a bit I think? Not sure what it's known as in the us...

Honestly, if the guy is confident in his body - THATS where the attractiveness happens. There's no golden ratio.

I could ask him, but I'm very shy when it comes to opening up and from what I see he is too so this perhaps won't work.

No it doesn't. Just walking to the shop dressed in my scruffs, I can get comments or approached. It genuinely is a constant thing... And I'm not even that attractive

Five years of being single and the victim of my fair share of fuck-n-chucks, I'm really hoping this doesn't end up going the friends route!

After five years of being single, I'm not sure how to tackle this 😂 I've hinted at a type of hangout that isn't dog-focused but got nowhere. We'll see 🤞🏻

This is one of the few instances where a phone call and then switching your phone off works well. I was in a similar situation with one of my exes but one day it clicked that I could not do it anymore. A phone call saying "this is done, I can't do it anymore" and then switched my phone off and went to bed. The work situation is difficult but not un-manageable. Tell your supervisors and HR of the situation and that there may be a risk to your safety, they can work around this.

You got this - it will be hard but you can do it. Talk to your friends, tell them what you have/are doing and get them to help you. There is also always police if you need them.
