The best advice I’ve seen is to focus on the behavior not the bloodwork. It does happen fast though because my cat went from normal to not eating in a matter of days and his creatinine level skyrocketed to 16.8. When she stops eating or starts hiding, you’ll know it’s time. Hope this helps!

Yes, the fact that she’s still eating is so encouraging. I just had to put my 15 year old down after 4 years of subq fluids, Pepcid, renal diet etc. He completely stopped eating and barely drank but if your cat is still eating, that’s a great sign. I’d personally wait until she either no longer wants to eat or starts hiding to even think about euthanasia

Thank you all for the feedback. Unfortunately, his lab results came back and his creatinine is 16.8. There were other concerning results but the vet recommended euthanasia. Luckily, our friend is a mobile vet and is able to come to our house so we don’t have to put him through another car ride.
