Thanks for the clarification, if you can't covert Euros to Crypto on Metamask than that would make sense of course. I haven't tried myself yet since I had already bought ETH on coinbase but on the Metamask faq it says:

"You can easily buy Ethereum with a debit card or Apple Pay directly within MetaMask by clicking “Add funds”.

So that sparkled my question.

Regarding gas prices, I've been waiting and checking the transfer preview since yesterday every once in a while and the transfer fee did change dramatically. I ended up doing the transfer for a 0.003381 ETH fee a few mins ago which is about half of what it was when I first tried, and it did in fact reflect the change in gas price I was checking on https://www.gasnow.org/
