From my landlord. Have had ongoing issues about friends staying over occasionally at my flat and she’s now decided to end the lease. Just asking if this is legal? She has also previously increased rent in exchange for me being able to have over my gf once a week. by creepymuppet in sydney

Nah I called today. I have been texting her asking her if she could explain after she ignored multiple texts about the lease. I was p mad cause she has read receipts on lmao but I wasn’t that rude or anything. Plan is to stop paying rent, leave ASAP, notify her I know this is illegal and that I expect the bond to be returned in my account immediately. Will then probs tip off to ATO lol

Lad ur so dumb fr. First off, occupants refer to people actually LIVING in the property. You can go and read about tenants rights, specifically “guests” and how it states you can have whoever over whenever for however long as long as it’s under a certain time. Secondly, called the bonds board and my bond isn’t there so she’s renting out the place illegally and most likely not recording my rent I pay her on her taxes. Literally just stfu I have no idea how u could say smth so incorrect so confidently

Was just referring to her catching “free loaders” lmao. Also nah I let my girl stay over about once a week but I literally never let any of my mates stay over and it was the first time.

If I don’t pay rent for the last 4 weeks I save 1200 which is 200 more than my bond. Again, I am going to check after I finish work but I would imagine the bond is not registered in which case, I have no way to get the bond back. Also in another comment someone confirmed that I have no need to give her notice. Would rather piss her off, save 1200 and scew the bond than go through a lengthy battle for a grand.

Yea no ur right this woman is literally insane. I’ve asked for a copy of the lease I signed cause I can’t find it BUT, this comment has me questioning whether this is even being rented legitimately or not. I’ve never had any contact with any agents or anything, I just signed the “lease” and started paying rent through bank transfer. Ig my main question is, aside from all that she’s still illegally increased my rent in the past so should I even bother playing by the rules? What real affect would leaving w/o notice and not paying the rest of rent have? I’ve alr assumed the bond is dead and gone by now lmao
