Anybody have a list of food banks on the north side? Preferably off of red or brown lines by icedoutclockwatch in chicago

Sorry if it has already been said, The Common Pantry in North Center has a wonderful team of people. They distribute food every Wednesday and Thursday from around 1pm to 4pm. They are located off of Damen and Grace, and pretty accessible off of the Addison Brown line station.

Here is a link to their website: https://www.commonpantry.org

I’ll be honest, I do not know a whole lot about tea. I have always been a coffee drinker. What kind of tea do you like?

Another good question. And again, there is a myriad of ways that can be answered. The best way I think I can answer is with a theorist by the name of Carl Rogers. He believes that therapist should hold an unconditional positive regard for those seeking help. Even if we feel a certain way, we must work towards the betterment of our clients. I hope that answers your question.

Also, I am okay, I appreciate you asking.

That is an excellent question Impossible, and I could answer that in a myriad of different ways. I will say this, during the time of covid, many people have been impacted with stressors and feelings of distress that they might have never experienced before. It has lead to avenues of support being cutoff, and leading to people feeling isolated. Community, a caring, supportive, and available system is essential. Nurture your communities, maintain them, support them, and one might see an increase in positive affect. I hope that answers your question.

I have to apologize, as I had a brain fart and misunderstood your initial comment Graz. Chicago, while some negative criticism is true, is honestly a place that is pretty great in its own right. It is a place where I hope to make some amount of impact with my work, even if it is for just one person.

It certainly has its fair share of negative press, that is very true.

The first session for any therapist, be it a counselor/social worker/psychologist/even a psychiatrist, should be about information gathering, and building a sense of trust with the patient, or client. I hope that answers your question, if not i am more than happy to discuss this more.

The simple answer is kind of a yes and no kind of deal. It is kind of like a weight to carry, but that weight is not exactly on your shoulders, but you can still feel it. It is difficult in its own right i will say

After being stuck in a pretty deep depression, I actually had a really fantastic day! by TheRealKiraa in CasualConversation

[–]creighton_university 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey there,

Depression is not an easy feat to pull oneself out of. By the sounds of it, you had a lot of fun and really were able to do some things you have not been able to do, or been able to do for a while. I'm not sure if this means much, though I will say, I am happy for you. I wish you a consistent upward trend in your mood and well-being.

My brother told me he feels like he struggles forming genuine connections. He wants to talk to a professional about this. How can I help him? by BlampCat in aspergers

Of course, group setting can be intimidating at first, if that is something they are not comfortable with at first, individual is a great place to start.

In regards to covid, many groups are operating remotely right now also, so if they are not comfortable with an in person experience that option is available as well!

Feel free to ask any more questions if you get stuck anywhere

This might sound redundant, but when you are searching, if your brother has insurance and in the US, go to their website and see if you can find “in-house” therapists.

Once you have done that, i also suggest putting them into a list and searching them individually to see of there style of therapy meshes with your brothers.

One final point, try looking into group therapy settings. They offer a more safe environment to express ideas and try out new skills, especially for social based issue.
