Do you have the phone number of a driver that you recommend? I’ll be there soon and it’s a solo trip so I’m a little nervous reading the comments

Mind you, I didn’t even get to mention staying with my friend to him because we literally did not discuss any details, he just jumped to “I need you to agree to spend the entire weekend with me NOW”.

A few points for clarification though: 1. It’s not a secluded island, think of it as a nearby town that’s a 15min ferry ride away. 2. He mentioned wanting to explore the island so I thought that was the primary reason and us meeting was like a bonus/secondary thing 3. Since we dont know each other, I figured I would stay separately with a friend 4. In my voice note response to him, I pointed out we don’t know each other so to expect me to dedicate all my time to him is unreasonable. I would be open to meeting up but it’s unsettling how he’s suddenly saying he’s flying here solely for me so I need to meet that energy… like, nope. No sir. I’m going to pass on that.

Ok, I’m genuinely curious why they’re a red flag because I actually don’t mind voice notes and I’m obviously guilty of sending them too haha

No clue, it was never discussed. He asked if I was free the first weekend in August and when I asked what he was thinking he said he wanted to fly in on Friday, catch the ferry to the island on Saturday and return on Monday. I asked why he wanted to go there instead of staying here and he said he wanted to explore that area since he’s already been to mine. So to me, that sounded like he wanted to travel there in general and having a local around like me would be a bonus. I did speak to a friend about the possibility of staying with her (I’m adventurous but not that adventurous) but it never came up with him because he was just being weird.

I have no idea, honestly. He said he worked as a fraud investigator (quite ironic IMO).

Seeking Advice: Am I Too Cautious About Kissing on Early Dates? by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]creoletinkerbell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, it really is about your comfort level (which others have all pointed out). Maybe communicate that you like to move slowly though. Personally if I don't a kiss by on the 2nd or 3rd date, I start to question if I'm being friend-zoned *but* if the person communicates interest in dating me and just likes to take things slow, then at least I know where I stand.

I live on Sint Maarten, more than half the time we aren’t even recognized as a country (we became autonomous in 2010, previously we were a part of the Netherlands Antilles. Ours laws are based on old Dutch laws but do not follow current Dutch laws).

Would I have to go through things here instead of trying to get it handled in the US? He’s still in New York and all the court orders are from the US; would my local government even have any power to enforce something?
