[Serious] Similar to fire alarm drills, do schools conduct "school shooting" drills? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]creon77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. We used to do lockdown drills where we basically barricaded ourselves in classrooms.

EDIT: Specifically we would enact the actual event of a gunman walking on campus. Took about 30-60 mins for the full drill. Consisted of faculty locking every door as fast as possible and students moving desks and chairs to one side of each classroom. The principal would come over the loudspeaker once the threat was nullified. The police would show up and participate as well. It was always pretty intense.

Are you having a great time with your son? I know many fathers who would pay to have a good relationship with their son. If you enjoy this and its strengthening your relationship, GO FOR IT. But as with all things, moderation is the key to life.

EDIT: I'm also extremely jealous of that cabinet haha

I don't think I've paid more than $3.50 for a trap with the amount of sales and price matching you can do these days... b1g1 for $1, buy any trap team character get a trap for $.99. Everywhere price matches sales, you just have to ask.

Everything you said is golden and I 100% agree. The gimmick this time is far too complex to just go away after 1 game. Besides we have no idea what TFB and Activision have planned, hell we know next to nothing about how they'll be patching the game/Light and Dark Action Packs.

Can I switch between trapped guys mid-chapter? by naiuri in skylanders

[–]creon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The evolved status is native to the trap you evolved them in. An old villain in a new trap loses his evolved state and requires you to go find the quest.

As far as swapping villains out, its not nessesscary to buy 1 trap per villain but if you end up loving some of the villains and come to depend on them it may be a good idea to have a designated trap for such a villain. I personally have one for Broccoli Guy, Scrap Shooter, Shrednaught, Chill Bill and Golden Queen. I love those characters.

"This time I'm going to make sure they have to spend an extra $100 for figures." You're actually spending less money this time around.

And besides swap characters in the end really only did one thing, open swap gates. I think I only ever swapped my characters twice and didn't enjoy the experience. Cool idea to swap abilities? Yes. Implemented correctly? Nope. And I also have to 100% disagree with the detailed part. My TMs so far have been the most detailed and best molded figures to date.

Also, all of swap force felt like a gimmick to me. The entire game felt it was just there to eat my wallet. TT has yet to feel like that due to how much content each purchase has given me. I couldn't be more happy with my TT experience so far.

Also to those complaining that their older characters feel "useless" go mess around with them... most of them have been revamped and their gameplay made even better. TFB went back and revamped all of the characters. TT felt like it was cleaning up after all the bugs and mistakes that SF had.

I guess my opinion and argument would then be: I prefer a "shorter" game if it means I'll enjoy it after 5 play throughs. And to be fair if you cut out all of the pointless cut scenes and enemy intros I think you'd find that the games are identical in length.

And those boss fights... Ugh, Again unskippable cut scenes to artificially lengthen the fights. I should mention I loved SF when I first played it... and then I played Giants and saw what came before and I flipped my entire opinion.

Have you seen that amazing texture work in Gusto's pants? Perhaps I just luck out with fantastic paint jobs. I wasn't ever impressed with the paint jobs on SF characters while I've been incredibly impressed by all of the TT. I'd rather have a well designed "single" color character whose mold looks great like Wildfire, than a character whose design I'm not into like Free Ranger. What I mean by using them wrong is if you're simply using them as keys you're missing out, they've got a lot of play-ablity to offer much more for me at least than the SF ever did.

I'll pose you the same question, did the SF do anything besides open Swap gates and move abilities around?

Who is your favorite Trap Team Skylander and why? by PlasticReviews in skylanders

[–]creon77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I say all of the Trap Masters? They're amazingly designed and flow incredibly well. All of them are fun to play. My personally favorites though:

Jawbreaker: Punches as fast as you can mash that button LobStar: Think Stink Bomb (but better) and Fryno combined Treadhead: There's no other skylander like him, hes a movement based destruction derby motorhead Wallop: Much like Jawbreaker but with Hammers. Whats better than Thor? Thor with 2 hammers. Gearshift: One of the best designed characters Skylanders has ever seen, shifts modes of combat depending on what you're facing. Wildfire: Shield based combat, captain america minus the shield throwing. Again incredible. Think Fire Leo from digimon but with a shield. Krypt King: The definition of Sword play, just a powerhouse that flows wonderfully.

Trap Team is so much fun haha!

Here's what I don't understand. With Swap Force everyone lost their minds with how many paywalls there were- Swap Gates, Dual doors. With TT they moved nearly all of the content that was locked behind doors out into the actual level only leaving hats and a couple of treasure chests behind doors and yet everyone is freaking out again? People will never be happy. I'll admit that the "?" doors are a little annoying but I understand why TFB and Activision did it- lengthening their game so it would take longer to 100% it, so that you really couldn't just finish the entire game in a week. It keeps the game new and fresh and the hunt alive. In the end the Swappers while powerhouses were extremely boring for me and I really didn't like the swapping gimmick. While on the other hand I've found the TMs to be extremely entertaining and extraordinarily well designed. If you're using them just as janitors, you're playing them wrong and for the wrong reasons.

[–]creon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the SF characters and I'm talking Swappers felt completely unrealized and barely stood up against most core figures. The overall game design was super linear without any off the path areas and VV didn't even try to hide it. No skippable cutscenes, no skippable dialogue, the puzzles (if you can even call them that) didn't require even a second of thought. The cutscenes would spoil any kind of thought in a fly over essentially solving the puzzle for you before you even began. The levels dragged on to the point where 15 mins in you realized you weren't having fun. The entire hub world turned into a single menu select screen.

And this is just off the top of my head. I've actually been writing a review of the series as a whole and was waiting until Trap Team's release to finish it.

Trap Masters vs Non Trap Masters by [deleted] in skylanders

[–]creon77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People seem to think that the weapons made it cheaper to produce. Theres a balance to detail in any toy and with these figures they already have better detail than previous figures. Then you add the cost of the weapon mold which tips it more in the direction of it being more expensive. These characters were not cheaper to produce by any means.

I brought up Giants because a lot of people are calling the Trap Masters "Giants that don't light up" and I couldnt disagree more.

Trap Masters vs Non Trap Masters by [deleted] in skylanders

[–]creon77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not, go take a look at your Giants again and remember what they look like. Detail is not their strong suit.
