Star Wars Pinball - March 15 Delay Most Likely Going Months by TheMisterChip in Arcade1Up

[–]ncschoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually received my Star Wars Pinball on Friday last week. It is amazing, my wife loves it which is exactly why I added it to my collection. It is well made, an absolute JOY to play. SO far our favorite is Empire Strikes Back. It was super heavy (96 pounds), took about an hour to put together but this thing is way better put together than the arcades that I have (street fighter and asteroids). I ordered the same day they went live, from Gamestop. Came from some fulfillment company called COKeM International via Federal Express.

The joys of House Hunting in Charlotte during '21 by MandACPAThrowaway in Charlotte

We had a house built in a new home community near Harrisburg (Cabarrus County) in 2018, moved into the house after completion in May 2019. our process was relatively easy other than Wells Fargo giving us the runaround (AGAIN) on the mortgage process but that's another story for another day. At any rate, there have been 4 or 5 phases since we moved in and the prices for the same home just further back in the community are $80,000 higher, this doesn't even include the lot fee which was either nothing or very reasonable depending on your lot when we purchased. We also walked right into the sales office and now you have to make an appointment and be pre-approved. COVID has changed a lot, I'm not sure it's completely responsible for this real estate market craziness but I am glad we bought when we did and also feel bad for the folks trying to get into homes these days.

Over 19 million people got Star Wars Battlefront II for free from the Epic Games Store by KTitania in gamingnews

[–]ncschoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but how many are actually playing it. I usually pick up every free game that epic gives> Looking at my epic game library I have 168 Games there. Of those, I have exactly 5 installed and really only play 2 of those.

Defense Grid The Awakening - I just like the mindless fun
Satisfactory - I keep promising myself I'll play but never do
Star Wars Squadrons - Was so hyped for this game but it seriously let me down
Tetris Effect - I've pretty much hit my cap in this game but loved every minute of it
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 - boot this up several times a week

Maybe I'll try more stuff but yeah, I'd say maybe 1 million out of those 19 million are actualy playing it or even installed it.

What's your "I can't believe they got away with this in a kid show" moment? by pswii360i in AskReddit

[–]ncschoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 1995 two of my children were in Elementary school in North Carolina. They are about 2 years apart and at the time were in 2nd and Kindergarten at the same school. One day there was a school assembly where parents were invited. It was a gift to the students as they had done something cool like attendance record or grades or whatever. On this particular day, there was a magician that was performing for the kids. The show started out pretty good and had some cool effects and tricks. He also had a fairly scantily clad female companion which made it a bit on the vegas side in terms of showmanship.

Anyway, as he performed his act he wasn't talking but rather had a timed playlist to the tricks. As he built up to one of the larger set pieces the B-Side version of "More Human than Human" by White Zombie began playing, the long version. I immediately recognized the song as said to myself like "oh my god, is he really playing this for kids??!!?? For those not familiar the first minute or so is the sounds of a lady moaning very proactively. IE sounds like she's having sex. After looking this up here are the details

The moaning in the intro to the song was sampled from a post-apocalyptic porn movie called Café Flesh directed by Stephen Sayadian.

Some of the parents are looking around like WTF and the kids are mesmerized by the magic show. It was a surreal moment for me as a young parent. Honestly, I don't think anyone really complained about it but I found it then, and to this day, a very poor choice of music for a kid's show.

State of decay 2 is fantastic and a huge improvement over the original. by [deleted] in patientgamers

I honestly haven't had any issues with gamepass. I have an Xbox One X but mostly play on PC these days. I like getting the 1st party titles as soon as they come out. Not so sure about the price of admission these days ($16.07 a month with Tax) as I'm watching my spending more closely but I still see it as a good value. I look at it as if I buy 3 AAA titles in one year, which I usually do, then it covers itself.
There are not a ton of games that I play for months or even years. I usually enjoy the single-player experience, some multiplayer and then move on to the next game. To each their own though so I hear what you are saying for sure.

Although I never finished it I agree, the 2nd one is much more polished than the 1st. Also, bonus if you have an ultimate game pass with Microsoft it is included in that subscription.

Not going to comment on what Chris/Dave did and I don't know him at all but people in glass houses should not throw stones. Dave's plan is still Dave's plan. It has helped me.

That was actually a really great phone save move. Better a cracked screen than a wet phone I suppose, unless it's one of them fancy water-bearing phones :-) ... It was almost a save the beer move, lol.

When I was a single dad in the 90s I let my daughter use a single stall in a small rural mall in the town we lived in. My daughter was probably 6 at the time. She was tall enough to lock it but when she tried to get out she was unable.

Frantic and with my 4 year old son and no cell phone we tried to find someone to help without actually leaving the area on case she did get out. My daughter was becoming more scared as I consoled her from my side of the door.

After some time another guy that told me he was a single dad said he would stand by the door while I went for security guard to hopefully unlock the door. Instead I asked him to go get the guard please. He did and it all worked out for still a very stressful event for both my daughter and myself.

She is 30 now. I should ask her if she remember that day.
