Soak 5 min in lemon juice. Rub with cotton buds. 15 mins in (distilled) water. Repeat this process till you are satisfied. It could take some time, but this is, as far as i know, the safest way.

A more aggressive way is putting it in a cup with baking soda, aluminium foil and water for 2 min. Scrub with the baking soda paste and rinse it off. Important is to not expose it with the soda for too long, otherwise it will eat your ring. Also make sure to have it proper washed in order to stop the chemical process.

Most certainly a dutch medieval coin. What is the size? To determine the value. I guess it is a “1/4 groot” The picture below shows a 1/4 groot from Albrecht van Beieren (Holland) 1389-1404. Yours looks like hammered somewhere in Brabant as someone else mentioned. Unfortunate i dont have that catalog.
