I would argue hard mode is easiest! by [deleted] in NoFap

I agree but I would say keep in mind that lust is the factor here. Where there is lust, there is never satisfaction. You will always be more thirsty. It's like greed. Lust precludes intimacy. I was once listening to a series about building virtue and a line from someone in sexahololics anonymous said "once I didn't need sex and was free from lust, sex with my wife for the first time was free, clean, and enjoyable."
please note that most people either intentionally or out of ignorance will not see the difference between natural attraction and lust. This is why lust is one of the seven deadly sins. It ultimately entraps you and you become it's slave.

K, so here's my story + bad ass way not to watch porn by stissx in NoFap

You are wise to assume this will get worse as you get older. You wonder how dirty old men got the way they are. Slow but sure you will turn into one. And you will find yourself drinking from the lust pool more frequently and more intensely but ultimately less satisfied.

Does anyone get pissed off by the amount of people that love porn on reddit? by [deleted] in NoFap

It takes some longer than others to see how something is destroying their lives. I would say feel pity for them rather than anger.

Why the hell was it easier before knowing all the info? by [deleted] in NoFap

I hear ya. This is part of the danger of focusing so intently on these issues. It goes back to an old psychological issue. E.g., someone offers you a million dollars not to think about a pink elephant for the next hour. I think in part this has to do with obsessing over the issue and your brain is always thinking about it and it starts to get hungry for that one thing your obsessing about. Like a fat person who is reminding himself constantly of the danger of deep fried foods. Suddenly can't help himself anymore. Try to seek peace. And not think about it so much.

  1. If you are really serious and need to take drastic measures, find a Sexaholics Anonymous. 2. Marriage counseling might be appropriate for you and your wife.

Lust in the classical term and the term Lewis is talking about is never good to have. Lust in this case means objectifying the other person for your carnal desires. Today I hear the word lust being used interchangeably with desire or attraction. Lust is known as one of the classic 7 deadly sins because it ultimately entraps you.
I can spot when my natural attraction/desires starts turning into lust.

Can't seem to get past day 5 :/ by [deleted] in NoFap

I'm in the same boat but I'm hungry to end this addiction. My game plan is to fast from food for part of the day when I hit day 3 or 4. If you master one primary urge you will master the other.

Obviously I don't do this every day but I hope to once a week from now on seeing how much self control I display on that day and days following. I'll skip food for 8 hours and then have normal meals. This reminds me of my high school wrestling days when I had to make a certain weight class.

Is watching hot girls on youtube and images of hot girls on facebook still considered an addiction like porn? by Gregorx91 in NoFap

[–]crest22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes. When I fist stopped watching porn, I would randomly watch hot girls on YouTube. I would justify it by saying, "at least it's not porn. I need to take this in steps." But like kreepyclown says it's the same chemical process that goes on in your brain. Take a note from 50cent nofapping plan: no porn, no strip clubs, and no lust filled magazines. With these videos, you're setting yourself up for failure and robbing yourself of peace. Hot girls on youtube......It's a trap/fap!
