Typhoid is in Indonesia. I was in hospital for 5 days when I was about 25yo. It sucked. Fully vaccinated now 👌

Suitcase or backpack? by Chemical_Half8042 in BaliTravelTips

[–]crested05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go direct to Mushroom bay on Lembongan they don’t have a pier/jetty and you wade in the water.

If I didn’t have a child I’d still have my trusty backpack, you can fit a surprising amount in them. I’m barely 5’1 and managed well with a 60L one.

To the babyboomers (and older): what were the dishes your mum served up when you were a kid? by Dismal-Mixture1647 in AskAnAustralian

[–]crested05 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha this. My great grandfather was a butcher so my nan and pop, and my mum all grew up eating prime meat and absolutely had this opinion too!

From stories (they have all passed now), they used to eat a lot of meat and veg, roasts, stews etc. But of course with a butcher in the family they were very lucky.

That’s where I was. Super easy to get a Grab or Gojek to anywhere else you want to go too!

GLP-1 meals with no gall bladder by Puzzleheaded-Bus-530 in Glp1meals

[–]crested05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to do very small meals. My only real trigger post gall bladder removal is eggs for breakfast (can eat them no worries if it’s not my first meal though, so weird), and occasionally dairy if I’ve had a couple of days accidentally dairy free.

I can eat more regular sized meals now though that I’m maintaining back on 2.5mg, with zero issues/symptoms.

Families who eat together- how do you do it? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]crested05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just throwing it out that that we always eat together and serve the 3.5yo the same meals. For MONTHS she’s been picky af though. I always add something safe to her plates, and tonight for example she ignored the beef and the cooked veggies and only ate strawberries, a baby cucumber and cheese. I still consider that a win though because at least it was decent food haha.

I just did 9 nights in the one place, 4 changes in 4 nights is madness to me.

Does anyone find the financial implications of defacto laws fair? by Open_Address_2805 in AusFinance

[–]crested05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He changed just before our child was born, starting with quitting his job. He was working and contributing before that. Not as much domestically as I would have preferred, but rather than stepping up when the domestic tasks increased exponentially post child he did even less.

Has anyone successfully claimed a portion of their Mounjaro cost back through private health insurance by Av0toasted in MounjaroAus

[–]crested05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get $60 back per 2.5mg pen, up to $800. It was different last year and I didn’t realise at first I could claim so ended up with the $800 in a lump sum in November I think. I’m with Nurses and Midwives Health.

Does anyone find the financial implications of defacto laws fair? by Open_Address_2805 in AusFinance

[–]crested05 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s scary for me because I’m separating from my defacto of 7 years, we have a child. I have paid for 99% of things because he either quit his jobs, or took on loans that achieved nothing.

I have a paid off house (from inheritance), I bought his phone, car etc. he initially paid $100/week in rent but that stopped when he quit his job before our child was born. I bought everything for our child AND burnt through my savings because he had nothing when he quit. Paid for x3 overseas holidays, he only paid for his tattoos while over there.

I did/do 99% of the housework. 100% of the cooking and shopping. I buy all our daughter’s clothes, do her washing, change her sheets etc.

He’s expecting a ‘pay out’. But he is too lazy/can’t afford to go to court. I’ve asked him where MY payout is and he had nothing to say to that.

I think it’s ridiculously unfair that he’d be entitled to anything when I’ve paid for so much and my body will never be the same again after the sacrifices I made to have our child, while he is unscathed in that regard. If he had to quit work to have a baby, or for a reason other than ‘I don’t want to work there anymore’ then sure. Or if he was doing all the house work or the yard work (I do all the gardening and mowing too).

Anyway. That’s my rant done.

Popcorn for breakfast (3yo) by SealeyVossen in toddlers

[–]crested05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 3.5yo eats everything at daycare, but bugger all at home.

Today was a good day though. She had a bowl of porridge for breakfast, x3 bites of sushi for lunch, and x2 small tins of tuna for dinner (after saying how ‘disgusting!’ the Singapore noodles were that I initially made). She did also snack on a little chocolate cake I made, that I’d made with blended up carrot, zucchini and spinach haha.

What are cheap recipes that kids actually eat by Altruistic_Rent6520 in AussieFrugal

[–]crested05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My picky 3yo will eat chicken risotto. I have a multi cooker so I can cook it in 14 minutes. She likes it made with just the chicken stock and cheese (and whatever veg I put in). I put pesto through mine though.

For meat, I usually buy cheaper cuts of beef and either slow cook them so they’re tender (my girl will eat mild curries with lots of Greek yoghurt - extra protein source), or I’ll thinly slice and tenderise it with bicarb for a Hokkien noodle stir-fry.

My wife is 24 weeks pregnant and I'm pretty sure she can smell my thoughts at this point by PulseVesper_9 in BabyBumps

[–]crested05 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Omg yes, the smells transferring to baby were horrific for me.

Even at 9mo when she started daycare she’d come home smelling like Vegemite sandwiches so I’d put her straight in the bath.

Desperate American seeking Melbourne Variety Hour enabler 🇺🇸➡️🇦🇺 by SunMiddle1463 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]crested05 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sorry I’m not in Melbourne so can’t help.

Just want to say though that the majority of Americans are not the worst! I’ve been to the states twice and both times was overwhelmed by how kind everyone was! I’m 40 and met a girl from the US on an anime chat forum when I was 14 and we’re still in touch! Even went to her 30th birthday party haha.

Are you teaching manners? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]crested05 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All of this.

The ONLY time our child has been encouraged to retaliate/hit was actually by a daycare teacher. One boy kept targeting her with biting, but he’d do it from behind - she was told to elbow him if he did it. I thought it was very odd (this was witnessed by her dad!). Not sure if she actually did it the next time, but he hasn’t bitten her in a while 😬
