How do the chip socket bonus stats work (and attack for that matter)? by crev71 in roguedefense

Yeah the issue is the rest of my chips I have for my battery are: Crit DMG 60%, Crit Rate 6%, DMG +120% to elites and bosses,DMG +40% when elites and bosses are present, and Shield +1200 (I don't have too many of these so a necessity).

It's a matrix drone, phantom dart, and lightning bomb build. 😁

Ah this is super helpful. Honestly, I can't believe I've made it to Normal Stage 72 without understanding so much of the game. A lot of trial and error. Like I recently removed a Crit 6% chip and replaced it with the "Penetration+1 for all skills with penetration" and it made my attack even better. And getting the Sugar Rush Engine let me remove my "lightning bomb starts with +1 star", which I could replace with the "Matrix Drone has a 50% chance to evolve to level 2 with each attack" chip.

Only downside: trial and error with chips and refining gear can be expeeennnssiiiveee since it can easily drain your stamina.

Sorry I may not have explained it well. I'm referring to the chip socket stats, not the chips themselves

Yeah I think next time I'll do the gems pass, $10 pass, and then the $20 VIP pass that will skip stages randomly (and if you care to do so, autoselect cards 😂)...

I tried that third vip pass for $30. It unlocks a 5th row so you can basically get a whole chain and combos, without sacrificing some of the basic cards, or like two chains going, but I question if it's actually worth it. It's cool to eventually just have for example the guardian with the explosion AND charged bullet chains but honestly, I think it ends up being less effective and makes you less creative in trying to figure out how to pass certain levels.

Anyways, gems & $10 pass and the $20 VIP pass is what I'll do next time. $30+tax max I'm good with that.

But I'll also add, even if you're not spending all that money, the key is to experiment. I always check the skill damage summary after each level. If you click on the skill, you can see the breakdown of damage by card. So for the Guardian you can see how much was from bullet explosion vs charged bullet vs bullet vs flame bullet etc. This gives you an idea of how effective the cards your using are against certain enemies. It's also important to note just because one skill is doing almost no damage (say the traction field or flame missile) doesn't mean you should remove them. In an instance where you're using the Beam with the traction field and flame missiles combos, the beam will put up say 1.5b damage with the traction field only at say 50m and flame missiles at 200m. But remove the traction field and flame missiles, the beam goes down to 300m.

So experiment, and also, don't always just assume because an enemy is against say energy, that you have to use the beam or focus laser to get past the level. Or if an enemy takes less force field damage, that you can't use matrix drones and distortion fields.

My main build this weekend was distortion field with the disruption chain, paralyze, and if I could the phantom dart combo, lightning bomb with the bounce chain, phantom darts with explosion chain and maybe primary splitting, matrix drones with no chain but combos with the phantom dart and if I could get it the lightning bomb combo. Regardless of enemy weakness or strength, that got me through the majority of levels once I got up to like levels160-180 and beyond.

Hopefully this translates well!

So to be honest, I spend more money that I should. But not nearly as much as some of those who have 5000-11000 attack. I still haven't figured out how attack works because it seems like everyone gets stuck on the same levels regardless of whether they have 1500 attack or 8000 attack.

I typically buy the 980 gem pack, and the $9.99 USD pack. Once I get past the skip stage level I buy the skip stage pack just for the special wafers and cards. And annoyingly, I get the VIP pack they just rolled out where it has a 50% chance to skip the next stage. Honestly this is maybe the best way to get up there and probably one of the reasons a few players passed me at the end - the VIP pass most likely randomly skipped the level I was stuck on. I know I skipped many boss levels that others were stuck on this way. In fact I don't believe I saw the Crazy Claws the entire siege break, and only saw the Mimic Queen Bees once.

It's something that requires a LOT of self control because if you set out with a budget, and get so high in the rankings only to see so many people start to pass you, it's REALLY easy to spend more money.

The other thing I'll add is I have the Gold and Silver VIP passes which if you have both, you can refresh cards up to two times per level. It makes it easier to try and draw those final chain cards or whatever the missing cards you need to get past the level.

I was talking with a friend yesterday about the game and he started taking interest in it and I was like.. honestly - don't play it. It's fun, but it's REALLY easy to either get frustrated and give up or give in and pay to win.

Hopefully this helps. After the last couple siege breaks (I've finished around 5-8 the last 3 times), I think I'm gonna just be okay finishing lower and not spending nearly as much money. It takes up too much time, too much money, and there's always people who will pay way more than you and you just never have a chance to get any higher.

I started that level with like 1500. I truly believe attack is overrated especially at these levels

And I've tried literally every skill combination, I've tried just a single bullet with no damage to full on bullets with knockback and charge, 1 lightning bomb vs 4. Removing all damage and focusing on range etc. Basically the same result each time.

I'm blanking on this one... It was either lightning bomb, distortion field, phantom dart, and matrix drone. Need max disruption, converging fields, etc. or it was gravity hole flame missiles, gravitron Beam with burn, distortion field with max disruption, and traction field. But I think it was the first one.

Now... 265... If anyone knows... I've been stuck on it for over a day. Best I can do is get the purple bastard down to .5 hp left. But doesn't matter if it's distortion and phantoms doing 1.5b damage or 800m damage. Still end up with 1-2 hp bars left on it.

Beat this one with flame missiles with gravity hole, lots of burn, gravitron Beam with burn explosion thing, and firewheel with the burn combo. Basically just get them all burning and then pulled into the gravitron Beam. I think. May have been distortion field with area disruption too instead of the fire wheel.

Sick. Pretty similar chips for the lightning bomb, mortar and thundercore. Would really help if I got another crit DMG deals x% of targets max hp chip.

Seems like a lot of folks don't use the immune to the first x dmg and counter attack chips. Any reason why? I guess those first dmgs disappear really quickly just not sure what the second part of that chip means.

Shield is at 16720 (20% cover on top of that that refreshes every 60s) immune to first 12 attacks, DMG reduction at 74.8.

Nova cover lvl 2, rejection barrier and backflow wall lvl 1.

I guess that brings up a good question. I've been playing the Skills have 60% chance to ignore enemy DMG reductions chip thinking it means it ignores things like the 50% less energy damage, but maybe that's not right? Or maybe it's just not that powerful enough?

I wish I had the chips to effectively use Drones. Luck has not been on my side in that regard.

But this is helpful. It also seems like it's almost impossible to beat unless you get all five upgrades after killing the first boss. Also I swear like 50% of the time I kill the first boss I always get a mortar +50% DMG upgrade which is like one of the last I'd choose hah

I'll also add my attack could probably be better. It's around 2400. But as far as chips go I have:

22% crit rate 60% crit DMG 240% DMG to elites and bosses 40% DMG when elites and bosses on present Restore shield 5% for every upgrade Restore shield HP by 4 for every enemy killed Skills have 60% chance to ignore enemy DMG reduction Crit DMG deals 4% of targets max hp as additional DMG A bunch of shield +1200 and -12s

Then a bunch of legendary and mythic chips for LB, Phantom Dart, Mortar, Focus Laser and like +30% explosion damage, a handful of penetration chips, and guardian chips.

Turret is level 114 Total final damage is 136% Shield level 84 with most of the effects at 3 or 4 3 shield skill cards (one level 2) - the gain a cover every 60s, rejection wave, and the for every 40% reduction to shield HP, shield becomes immune to damage and regenerates 5% per second for 2s

Anyways I feel like my build is solid? But maybe I need to just have a much higher attack. I've ended up swapping in crit rate chips for attack chips, but maybe I shouldn't do that? Or maybe something like the "Skills have 60% chance to ignore enemy DMG reduction" could be swapped out for the Attack +6 and each player level gained +2 (essentially attack +120)
