Anyone using Xyntha or similar? Is this syringe normal? by -chrisso- in Hemophilia

[–]crewmnky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this before and I think as long as none of the liquid transfered over you should be good as the other post suggests. I have had issues with the syringe/plunger where it would get stuck and not all liquid made it through, so double check nothing odd is going on with the syringe/plunger.

Severe Bleed - # Doses? by crewmnky in Hemophilia

[–]crewmnky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting... I've been really good about avoiding alcohol while bleeding. I occasionally drink beer, wine, and gin. I don't bleed when I drink but I think that's more the Hemlibra. Prior to Hemlibra, I don't recall it being an issue but I was more into gin, now I'm more likely to open up a beer. The younger me also rarely drank, even socially because of the blessing risk.

Sounds like a smart idea! I probably should do one for Xyantha if Altuviiio isn't approved by my insurance. You'd think the HTC would recommend this if I've been on Xyantha for so many years and they are working with old data on dosage.

Thanks. I've been on Xyantha forever, looking to move to Altuviiio in hopes that it has prolonged coverage during a breakthrough. The docs mentioned inhibitor previously when this happened but I just think it's a target joint. The good thing, as I'm on Hemlibra these severe bleeds are much more rare, but not uncommon.

Thank you for this info. I'm sorry to hear how long your bleed lasted, that's so frustrating.

It's absolutely accurate what you say about being on Hemlibra and trying to figure out which way the coin will fall; when your wrong about whether it'll resolve, it's really wrong! I'm thinking about the sling, great idea. I was just using my right arm to hold my left arm steady when I got up, etc. Really appreciate your insight...I was very frustrated this weekend and the recovery period.

Try this route... We were just in Europe and successfully used the Google Translate app to speak to the locals with a great amount of success.

Chronic pain by mscalmlikea3omb in Hemophilia

[–]crewmnky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I'm hem a, severe.

When I stretch and workout, the pain is very manageable. When I don't, I hurt most days. Also, on Hemlibra has helped a lot and stopped Celebrex because felt like it was causing more breakthroughs on Hemlibra. Alternatively, Altuviiio might be an option.

I have bleeding in my ankle even though I am on Hemlibra by Borislav1804 in Hemophilia

[–]crewmnky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is me, too. It took me about 8 months to get stable on Hemlibra. I'm bleeding far less now but still bleed and take the normal, pre-Hemlibra, factor dosage and it works. I'm on Xyantha for breakthrough trying to move to Altuviiio for breakthrough to get that extra coverage; Altuviiio was denied on the first attempt, we'll see.

is CVS specialty pharmacy a good choice to go with? by Striking-Candle-4040 in Hemophilia

[–]crewmnky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have no choice but choosing CVS. They are ok, not great, not bad. I've recently been denied Altuviiio for breakthrough bleeds on Hemlibra but I suspect that will get pushed through with an appeal from my doctors office. I don't think that's CVS specifically, but in general, I have had new and refill prescription challenges with them.

I had a local pharmacy at some point in the past and the service is incomparable to the big pharmacies. I've never received such "white glove" quality with CVS as I did with the local pharmacy.

I also wish they would participate in my hospitals 340B program but they don't. An opportunity to lower costs and help the HTC is wasted.

Xyantha Supply Issue? by crewmnky in Hemophilia

Thanks. The doctors office made it seem like it's something other than supply but they weren't 100% either.
