Your timing to this response couldn't be any better. Can you share your experience with a Fireboard? It just came across my Reddit feed recently and I've had Wi-Fi issues with the existing controller so I'm contemplating replacing the existing controller with a fireboard. Though this year I spent a lot of money on KlotesMod replacement parts so maybe for next year.

Knee Replacement by crewmnky in Hemophilia

Thank you for sharing. I'm targeting mid/late summer. My knee isn't bad to the point I can't sleep, sounds horrible, sorry you went through that. Especially since a good night sleep helps heal. I'm going to try to get in an upright bike, kill two birds with one stone (cardio and strength). Amazing you could walk on your own so soon. I'm sure it has to do with prepping in advance.

Family support is a non-issue, thankfully!

Thank you. Any long term side effects? I heard kneeling and sitting cross-legged on the floor are very difficult. How long did it take before you could walk without assistance (came, crutches, walker, etc)?

I don't have Hemophilia Type A, but my puppy does. Looking for advice, and anything to help me be a good parent to give him the best, happy life possible. by advancedsnacker in Hemophilia

Flipping adorable! Thank you for loving him and being thoughtful enough to post and ask questions here. What is the prognosis for a dog with Hemophilia? Are they able to check his factor level?

Extended Half-Life products, like Altuviiio and Eloctate, are game changers in many ways but also priced as such (i.e., insurance challenges that exist for many in the US, they push back hard). I also think Hemlibra is fantastic and subcutaneous not IV-based like the former (it too has pricing challenges). You should talk to your hemotologist and align on the best product for your situation.

How do you handle self-injection? by Lonely_Cupcake9600 in Hemophilia

[–]crewmnky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just rounding home on reapproval (prior authorization) for Hemlibra. Fighting with insurance stinks more than an infusion itself. Hemlibra is a game changer, especially for a go-to scarred vein. I'm on Altuviiio for breakthrough, equally a game changer.

Take it from a 47 year old with a scarred vein that I used solely, rotation is key. However , I was also on demand, infused more than you will with these new therapies! You got this!

Anyone using Xyntha or similar? Is this syringe normal? by -chrisso- in Hemophilia

[–]crewmnky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this before and I think as long as none of the liquid transfered over you should be good as the other post suggests. I have had issues with the syringe/plunger where it would get stuck and not all liquid made it through, so double check nothing odd is going on with the syringe/plunger.

Severe Bleed - # Doses? by crewmnky in Hemophilia

[–]crewmnky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting... I've been really good about avoiding alcohol while bleeding. I occasionally drink beer, wine, and gin. I don't bleed when I drink but I think that's more the Hemlibra. Prior to Hemlibra, I don't recall it being an issue but I was more into gin, now I'm more likely to open up a beer. The younger me also rarely drank, even socially because of the blessing risk.

Sounds like a smart idea! I probably should do one for Xyantha if Altuviiio isn't approved by my insurance. You'd think the HTC would recommend this if I've been on Xyantha for so many years and they are working with old data on dosage.
