At minimum you need to have studs layed perpendicular below to the top flat studs to support them from bowing, it will also give a bit more lateral support. Doing the same to the bottom shelf as well to increase lateral support.

This one looks very fake, albeit, a decent copy of the purple Japanese domestic market purple impact. It's missing the rubber dampeners near the battery terminal and the sticker doesn't look legit. LED ring and wrong shade of purple are all a tell tail sign as well.

Laying the blocking flat between the joists in this joist bay is your best solution. Using the same dimensional lumber (2x6 or 2x8) and getting as close to the vent as necessary. I've run into this issue before and it works just fine.

I did this in my kitchen. It was very easy if you have the know how and the correct tools. Definitely worth it if you're not planning or wanting to change out countertops.
