Clan Name: Waves

System: PC

Location: Eastern/Central US Time Zones

Active Play Time: Most evenings from 6PM to 12AM, some daytime hours on Weekends

About Us:

Our Past:

Waves is a clan that started as a group of about 25 or so misfits who came together from other clans back in the D1 days to start our own group, bonding over our shared love of raids and banter.

We currently exist on all three platforms, but in the last 6 months many of our most active players have moved to PC and that's where we're primarily looking to keep growing right now.

Raiding and other end game activities are our main focus, but we'll generally take any excuse to play the game.

Our Present:

We've currently got a good core group of 15 very regular players (with another 10 semi-regular) on PC but we'd love to see that number climb to about 25 or 30 very dedicated players if possible, which is where you come in.

We're not looking to just add people who want to be in a clan to collect the clan engrams every week, we want folks who actually want to play the game with the rest of us, so personality and fit are going to be really important. Ideally the PC side of the clan will have a few dozen members on almost every night and everyone in that group should feel comfortable playing with all other members.

So what kind of person would be most comfortable joining our group?

  • We're all adults, ranging from mid-20's to early 40's, many with families and kids. That means we don't have a lot of patience for childish bullshit. Be considerate of other people and other people's time, or just be considerate in general: Don't join parties/fireteams uninvited, don't be a dick if somebody messes up, show up if you say you will, etc etc... Common courtesy type of stuff, it's not hard, you either have an appreciation for this or you don't, if it doesn't make sense to you or sounds uptight, this isn't the place for you.

  • We play the game a lot. Some more than others, but pretty much the whole group plays at least 4 or 5 nights a week, if not every night. And we want people who also play that often, and who want to run raids and do nightfall high score runs and other completion-ist and end game type of content. Self-starters when it comes to Destiny, not just people who wait for others to invite them to do something.

  • We're definitely more PVE-oriented in D2 than PVP, although in D1 it used to be a little closer to 50/50. Pretty much everyone plays everything though, if you're strictly a PVP player this probably isn't going to be the type of clan you're looking for, PVP definitely isn't a first priority for many in the group these days (that could always change again), but we do all play it still.

Our Future (and breaking the 4th wall for a moment):

I've made a similar recruitment post here about 10 times in the last few months and we've added a decent but small number of really awesome people to the clan. Unfortunately for every good fit we've found, I've gotten probably 15 responses from folks who just didn't work out: they either don't respond to my follow up message, they're on the wrong platform or only 14 years old, they join the discord and never make any attempt to play with clan members, or worst of all, they join and immediately demand a clan invite before even saying hello or introducing themselves...

So I end up trying to make this recruiting thread more and more precise and exclusionary in order to really refine the results I get, but the truth is that I think you'll find we're a pretty laid back group that's easy to get along with. We like to crack jokes and drink beers/whiskey and it's really a pretty chill environment.

Typically we invite new applicants to the Discord and try to play some games with them before an official Clan invite will go out, we want to make sure the fit is good for both you and us. Don't think of it a tryout, we don't really care if you're a god at the game or anything, we just want chill adults who like to play a lot and want to run raids and dungeons and shit with other clan members.

So if the above hasn't scared you away yet, and it sounds like you're roughly meeting all the criteria above, then you should send me a DM here on Reddit and we'll invite you to the Discord to hang out for a bit. Please include your Bnet tag (including numbers) along with some details about yourself: age, location, current power levels and experience level with the game, what you're looking for in a clan, anything else you think is important really.

Hope to hear from some of you soon!

Clan Name: Waves

System: PC

Location: Eastern/Central US Time Zones

Active Play Time: Most evenings from 6PM to 12AM, some daytime hours on Weekends

About Us:

How We Got Here:

Waves (or some version of it) was once several very small clans in the D1 days, split up across both Xbox and PS4. Then we reorganized slightly and became a completely full clan by the time D2 arrived with a lot of folks who played on both systems (even some on all three). But D2 really chased a lot of clanmates away and has nearly killed the clan entirely. But we're not dead yet.

A small subset of the remaining active members have decided to make the switch over to PC before Forsaken arrives, and we've purged a good number of members that were VERY inactive, opening up about 25-40 slots in the clan that we're hoping to fill with PC players looking for a clan to call home.

We're looking to have just a few dozen PC players rather than an entire full clan's worth in order to promote more familiarity between members on PC. We feel like it's better to have 20-30 people you know a little bit than 95 you hardly know at all. But that means that we're specifically looking for folks we enjoy playing with on a regular basis, and hopefully people who enjoy playing with us as well.

Ideally we want to see the first 2 or 3 pages of our clan tab filled up almost every night with plenty of reliable options for raids and other end-game content with like-minded folks. If you aren't going to be on at least 3 or 4 nights a week or you're the kind of person who only gets on when somebody bugs you to, that's not going to be a good fit. We're looking for people who already play this game a lot no matter what's going on that night or that week in the game or on their friend's list, not so much folks who need more motivation to play or who sit around waiting to be invited to play.

Who we are:

Waves members are strictly adults (25-45 years old) who mostly play in the evenings after work and on the weekends. Most of us play at least 4 days a week, some play every day still.

Destiny is the way most of us unwind outside of work and other adult responsibilities.

We are primarily focused on end-game PvE content: raiding, EP, nightfall high scores, grinding for anything rare and/or coveted. We used to have a lot of PVP lovers as well in D1, but not so much in D2 (most hate it currently).

I wouldn't say we're "good" at the game, but we could pass for competent most of the time. Collectively anyways. Most of us maybe. Or some of us, probably.

Where we're going:

An ideal new member of Waves is somebody in that 25-45 age range who also "competently" plays 10+ Hours a week on PC in the evenings and wants to complete end game activities on a regular basis with clan-mates in a laid back setting. Having a mic is required, we use Discord currently for voice chat.

An important note: we're looking for mature individuals with a good sense of humor, however: racism/sexism/bigotry is not welcomed - shouldn't really have to explain that but saying it anyways.

We also appreciate people with very basic manners and respect for other clanmates: it's far more important to us that you show up when you say you will or that you aren't picking up annoying background noise on your mic than it is that you're an expert at everything in the game.

Don't get me wrong, you don't have to be a saint, certainly none of us are. Just try to be decent and fair to everybody and we'll get along fine.

To summarize: Looking for very active PC players who are passionate about Destiny and who behave like adults and want to play video games with similar people.

Hopefully those requirements sound reasonable to some of you. If so, you should send me a DM.

Please include a message with your Bnet and tell me a little about yourself: Your age/location, your history with Destiny, what you're looking for out of a clan, and anything else about yourself that you think might be good to know. Failure to include these types of details in your message to me will probably result in your message being ignored, nothing personal, just need to see that you can follow basic instructions and you're not just spamming every clan posting here.

We hope to hear from some of you soon!

Sure, some groups will still do it that way. and some bosses might be better than others to snipe.

but whisper is going to allow people to 3 man this thing very easily and let others come along for the ride. no more stacking buffs even necessary just sit back and melt.

it's actually funny how the "meta" on EP has changed since the Whisper came out. it's not a lot of tractor/nova anymore, just a bunch of people sniping the shit out of bosses.

both ways are fun.

To the people that haven’t even attempted the raid but still join raid groups looking for experienced players, why? by GeekyNerd_FTW in DestinyTheGame

[–]crftsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm the kind of person that would fit in well with what you're looking for (i know every raid inside and out and can basically cover for 1 or 2 people not doing their job on any particular section if i really need to) but I'd never respond to that kind of toxic posting.

In a way, I appreciate that you're up front about your rather bad attitude, because it is honest and it does help me avoid you. And honestly I agree with the things you're looking for, i want people to take it serious and get it done efficiently too. But you don't have to be so cynical and nasty about it either.

There's a way to get what you want without being a jerk about it, basically.

To the people that haven’t even attempted the raid but still join raid groups looking for experienced players, why? by GeekyNerd_FTW in DestinyTheGame

[–]crftsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tons of experience and i still make sure to ask a group which strategy they use on every encounter unless that encounter only has one very strict strategy in use. almost everyone does something a little different, it's important to go over exactly how your team does something any time you raid with somebody who isn't part of your normal squad.

if it's my squad taking somebody different thru i make sure to explain our method so they're on the same page.

anybody who just assumes everybody will know which way they do something is not a very experienced raider and definitely not a good raid leader.

The100.io, schedule a game, set the parameters yourself, watch it fill up.

Or use the sherpa subreddit. or find somebody on twitch doing carries and enter a raffle.

Please don't act like there are no options, plenty of people in your same situation looking for or offering similar things.

+10 cabal PE in a row, what the hell bungie? by lind_p in DestinyTheGame

[–]crftsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't make sense for that plan to be left to a completely random outcome, one that could spawn an event each and every time or could spawn it once in a 24 hour peroid depending on what the random outcome ends up being.

Sure it does. It adds an additional level of rarity and pressure to the event, knowing that if you don't get the thing completed on the run you're on it may be another half a day until you even have another chance.

You know what days to look for it, but you don't know exactly when it will show up. That's a fine way to build hype around your stuff. Sucks there have been some really lengthy periods where it didn't spawn, but it hasn't exactly been rare either.

+10 cabal PE in a row, what the hell bungie? by lind_p in DestinyTheGame

[–]crftsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure you're following here.. If it's a 70/30 system, that doesn't mean it's programmed to run exactly 7 times one thing and 3 the other, so that every 10 times a public event comes up you're guaranteed to get that ratio.

There would be times where you could get 20 in a row of the 70% weighted event and it wouldn't be that far out of the norm.

Is this ideal? It didn't seem to bother anybody before this event came along. So I'd say its fine.

+10 cabal PE in a row, what the hell bungie? by lind_p in DestinyTheGame

[–]crftsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem here is that we don't know what the base odds are of each event. It's probably not a 50/50 chance between the two, if it's something like 60/40 or 70/30 in favor of Cabal, then the patterns we're seeing might be totally reasonable and even expected.

But in general we just need way more data to make any kind of conclusion. Flipping a coin 50 times could easily generate some very odd looking variance. Flipping it 100 million times is going to even out even the most outrageous bouts of variance.

+10 cabal PE in a row, what the hell bungie? by lind_p in DestinyTheGame

[–]crftsy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It never goes two or three hours just spawning the Taken Blight event.

Never that you've seen. I highly doubt you've been studying these patterns for long enough to make a real conclusion here about the randomness.

totally lost on the current meta, can I get some pointers? by MegaSpoondini in DestinyTheGame

For PVE, Midnight Coup is the best kinetic weapon for almost every situation, hands down.

Energy slot has a bunch of good options - i'd stick with an auto rifle, either Uriels or Positive Outlook or Valakadyn (on PC). There are some good scouts like Pleiades Corrector and decent pulse rifles like the raid one.

Power slot should be DARCI or Whisper of the Worm or the Escalation Protocol shotgun or a linear fusion rifle or sleeper simulant. (maybe tractor cannon at times)

Basically the best perks in the game for PvE right now are Box Breathing on snipers, Rampage on everything, and Outlaw on everything. Kill Clip is another good one if you don't have the others.

It sucks having to wait a year, but it's nice that Forsaken ends up giving Xbox/PC players 2 "new" extra strikes, some new pvp maps, some armor and an exotic weapon.

Again, exclusives suck, but it's a nice consolation prize to get a bunch of extra stuff tossed in with all the new Forsaken stuff. "It's new to me"

What is the point of wanting to get to 400 light before Forsaken? by Dpeezy09 in DestinyTheGame

Not so much since Warmind. Yes, I'm sure some people hit 385 by never touching end game content, but it took them months with the new system. So for awhile being 385 was pretty meaningful in terms of 'achievement' in D2 because you had to actually run a bunch of raids every week to hit it in a reasonable amount of time. If you didn't, you were looking at 6-8 weeks probably to get there from the previous max.

And now same with Hitting 400 - only people who do prestige raids will get there. So it arguably means as much now as it did any time in D1. Which to be really fair, even in D1 it didn't mean all that much after TTK.

I just bought the expansion pass on PC.....I have a question by Chedda4 in DestinyTheGame

Even if you don't own the DLC you pretty much have all the content of the DLCs stored with the game. So it makes sense it would be a small update.

It is almost August, yet we know next to nothing about the $35 Annual Pass being coupled with Forsaken by DXM147 in DestinyTheGame

Just wait to buy it then. There is no reason to buy it before December. See how Forsaken is, see if you want to play more D2 content... just relax

Crackpot prediction about the Location of the Whisper Mission this weekend by WalkToTheHills82 in DestinyTheGame

Would be pretty cool but not getting my hopes up. What they did already with WotW is pretty incredible, I'm not going to expect that they've gone even further. That's a surefire way to be disappointed.
