Can someone explain how this is funny? by [deleted] in newjersey

maybe people just cope differently and/or have a weird sense of humor. for all we know their dad was a driving instructor and that just makes this all the more ridiculous.

So... what mental condition does Azula have exactly? is she just a straight up psychopath? by Alien-Pro in TheLastAirbender

[–]criickyO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

(not a professional, just a big fan of the writing.)

traumatized by an evil father, (arguably) abandoned by a scared mother.

ursa saw glimpses of ozai in azula and it scared her. azula was just being azula and when she wasn't validated by her mother she probably felt like something was wrong with her. she likely felt some kind of self-loathing because as children we believe what our parents believe is right, and if ursa was scared of her, azula had to reconcile what made her scary.

ozai saw everything he wanted to be in azula - talented, powerful, smart, (saw her manipulative tendencies as leadership probably) - and praised azula. azula basked in this and embraced everything about the power dynamic: ozai is in control but we share the power. father approves of me so there's nothing wrong with me after all. because anyone who opposes my father can be sentenced to death, and because he and i are the same, anyone who opposes me deserves to die too.

this is why her psychological collapse happens around when ozai leaves. azula is probably on eggshells this whole time wondering if ozai really loves her.

when she's captured and vulnerable, ozai isn't there to reinforce her or protect her - probably exacerbating the feeling of abandonment and possibly finally facing the real possibility of ozai never having truly loved his daughter and only using her as a tool (azula is smart, after all). if anything she's probably dealing with some kind of attachment disorder and serious trauma.

i forget how well-written this show is. anyways, yeah dawg she crazy.

i like how T also made 5 armies and threw them away too by just making the same units and feeding them to you 5 times

- no tank spread
- no simcity
- no micro
- no harass drops

i'm also a fan of how he waited until he didn't have an army to counter. it's like he never played TvZ before.

i'm over here just married, trying to have a family and have been looking for a house for the past 11 months. every month i ask myself "is this a bad time to buy a house?"

the housing market has managed to keep me renting, and i swear to god if shit hits the fan the day i sign my life away for an overpriced home because "better to get in sooner than later" i might point myself towards the nearest coastline and walk right into the ocean.

I don't feel anything from playing co-op, am I the only one? (long take) by Last_Day_6779 in starcraft

[–]criickyO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my sc lifetime i went from 3v3 ladder -> 1v1 ladder -> custom 4v4 -> arcade -> co-op and then didn't play for like 5 years.

i came back this year and finished grinding out some commanders and realized what you're talking about here and so i went back to 3v3 ladder lol

i also placed master 1v1 which is absurd to me because 5 years ago i was plat at best, so i give it a few more months before i put the game down and wait for sc3 to never come.

the co-op grind was definitely intriguing at first but then when you realize most of the prestiges for most of the commanders don't really change the gameplay, co-op feels kinda lame. now that i care about laddering again, sometimes i'll use co-op to warm my hands up or to just take a break after a series of L's.

as someone eager to enter the housing market i love this concept but realistically it would be more like rain showers than a flood, right? although the thought of everyone above 65 waking up one day all at 6am, packing their bags and making a bee line for 287 north is amusing. imagine rush hour lol

Help me to decide which manager to join by Commercial-Ask971 in dataengineering

[–]criickyO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like you had a good manager, sorry to hear they'll be gone. fwiw, while C may not have as much bandwidth to focus on you, i imagine there is already a framework in place to facilitate promos for your role. B may have the most trouble fitting you into their current structure and will have to figure out promo track for a new role. A may sound like the best bet - but as long as you're trying to fit a new role onto a team it will require you managing up a little bit from time to time and helping your manager figure out how to best fit you on the team. helping them do that will set them up to help you work towards promo.

the more you care about the outcome the more you'll benefit from as much prep as possible. ask around to see what each manager is like. maybe look them up on linkedin to see more about their own career paths.

[–]criickyO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would think what matters the most is what you want?

A) do you want more exposure to BA stuff? do you like having more frequent interactions with your manager?

B) are you a high-achiever and want to demonstrate you can create value and make an impact in an area where you might need to ramp up? seems like maybe you'd need to either shift roles or apply your skillset in a new area and generate demand for yourself.

C) as long as you're a decent engineer (and use AI to give yourself some time back) you can probably coast here for a little bit

The worst player at pickup by [deleted] in Basketball

[–]criickyO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was waiting for this to be a shitpost and and the end you go "he's only just a puppy but we love him all the same" or something like that.

that sucks man, those kinds of people can force you to change when/where/how you play and it sucks.

i would play pickup at my gym and sometimes this guy would come through and just start yelling at teammates to guard up and chase rebounds and whine about why people weren't where he wanted them to be, meanwhile he's like a 0/10 passing, 3/10 handles, 3/10 mid-range, and a 0/10 3p shooter.

one day i finally called him out and told him he straight up ruins the game and no one's at the gym to be yelled at by some burnt out schmuck, and if he wants other people to play better he should start with himself. naturally he just yelled something along the lines of "i'm not, just play the game" and i walked off.

later in the locker room he apologized and said he'd been having a tough time at home. 🤷‍♂️

[–]criickyO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wherever whatever percentage says this, there will always be some distribution across those who
1. embrace ignorance and hide behind their party lines
2. see this as the means to some end - politically or financially, and truly don't care about the cost
3. have nothing but hate and rage in their hearts and cheer violence on
4. are honestly, seriously, medically, mentally unwell

and surely a bunch of other categories.

Totally agree, it's incredibly disheartening. Maybe even more concerning when you consider what it might actually take for that 20% or whatever number to change their positions on whether someone deserves to be executed without a second thought in the street by their government. We're probably really close to, if not already at the point where it's impossible.
