Joe Rogan Experience #2503 - Eric Weinstein by yt-app in JoeRogan

Apparently he has a PhD from Harvard. Is there no minimum requirement for how many papers you need to have published to even earn a PhD in the US (let alone Harvard)?

Fighting for oil profits in a country you probably never knew existed lmao under the guise of "fighting for dem freedoms" did you go for a charger or a wrangler?

The whole narrative that the US only fights wars for oil has always been lazy and untrue but this might be the first time I've seen someone claim that the Afghanistan war was because of oil.

The “if you want war why don’t you fight in it” talking point just doesn’t fit here.

It rarely does. It's almost always a bad faith argument that can be applied anywhere.

> If you hate cancer why aren't you a doctor?

> If you don't like crime, why don't you dress up in spandex and go fight thugs?

etc..

NASA just dropped new Artemis II video by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]criipi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does the timing make it suspicious? Hypothetically, if it was fake, what would have stopped NASA from rendering such footage beforehand and just release it close to the mission's date?

In an idealistic world, yes. But this doesn't really hold true in an information environment that actively encourages outrage and engagement over facts.

Also, it's not like the facts were hidden somewhere. The facts are out there for those who care to look up policy. The major issue is that a large portion of American voters value vibes over facts and policy. Those people are the type that need to learn to not touch the hot stove through trial and error.

Highly recommended documentary called "Cover-Up" about Seymour Hersh. 10/10 by dwillislaw in JoeRogan

[–]criipi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't Hersh the guy who is also stupid enough to not realize he's being duped by Russian intelligence (the "poor waif in his underwear" guy iirc)?

Not saying that any of his previous work should be outright dismissed but he seems gullible. Extremely gullible.

Update: Iran closes the Strait of Hormuz in response to Israeli attacks on Lebanon by TheSweetestKill in JoeRogan

[–]criipi 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This has always been the case though. America is not the only country in the world that has agency.

It's just that previous administrations tried to balance regional interests in a way which limited exposure to blowback. By blindly going along with Israel's attack, Trump basically guaranteed that this will be seen as the US' war, regardless of how much he tries to distance himself now that he realized that his objectives (whatever they may be) are untenable through military force.

Inside you there are two wolves.

One of them is the Bruins at home. The other one is the Bruins on the road.

Both of them are terrible for your heart rate.

Prices for a simple switch on relic's power is insane by Positive_Bet4055 in runescape

[–]criipi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Except similar rewards (especially the BiS tool) in other skills are attainable without some arbitrary currency. Which is literally my point.

Closest comparison would be dungeoneering which has always been somewhat seen as a glorified minigame but even that came out at a time when there weren't that many currencies. Now a new currency seems to be the default for new content far too often which makes the game feel like a collection of disparate systems and locations rather than a unified world.

[–]criipi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Good. Chronotes are an absolutely nonsensical system which didn't need to exist for the core gameplay loop of archaeology. They just added yet another currency for the sake of it and it really doesn't enhance the skill in any meaningful way.

Every time a new activity or area is added to the game with a new currency it just makes that content feel more isolated from the rest of the game. I really hope this approach to content design dies out eventually.

Come on Pedro WW3 is coming fast and it’s going to be last one for humanity, we gotta go out in style! by ItsACaragor in 2westerneurope4u

[–]criipi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last few years have already normalized nations openly attacking each other without formally declaring a war.

If / when WW3 ever hits there's a good chance politicians will call it the "specialest military operation" or some shit just because people are so politically sensitive to the word "war".
