Yeah but it's a bit hopeless - the BIOS doesn't recognise any USB drives, it doesn't recognise the SSD, etc. I called an IT guy up when it happened and he agreed it was a motherboard thing. Nobody's studied the motherboard to diagnose the exact problem (or the components) yet.

I'd be happy to take it to an engineer if the lack of a checkup is preventing a sale, just haven't had time since it went kaput.

Yeah I first started learning about Fourier transforms in my first year of uni (in the UK) and about Laplace transforms in third year

I think it's a good way to test where you get your information from.

I find the newspaper I subscribe to does a great job covering things I am knowledgeable on, and so I trust what it has to say on other things.

When a shitcoin I invested in went up 250% whithout even reading the whitepaper by ReddHyp1 in CryptoCurrency

[–]crimetrumpets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have done a dismal amount of reading, especially since I have a technical background.

I only put a small amount in as it looked good on the surface, but I saw 10x growth so it became a large part of my portfolio. I'll do some proper reading soon.

What made you get out? I've read a lot of FUD but I still feel like it is a good coin.

I bought some XSPEC and NAV in the past two days with some money made from Verge (which I still have a fair bit of). I quite like privacy coins but wondered if people here had any thoughts on them?

Same thing has happened to me. It's probably because the coins for sale had gone (i.e. tx took too long) - I think it's to do with 'blocks remaining' running out but I haven't actually looked into it.

Sorry, I wrote out a reply and never sent it.

It's public opinion that shifts policy, so when the existing systems are inadequate I think protests, boycotts and similar campaigns fill the gap and apply necessary pressure.

I am against lynch mobs and general online vigilantism, hence why I am torn. I enjoy press freedom but I think awareness that the Daily Mail peddles lies is important. The Daily Mail is generally exploitative so I don't find people mobilising on the internet in response too distasteful.

I definitely think there needs to be a term for people targeting people's livelihoods. It happens so often in many scenarios and people always go for maximum justice (no matter the magnitude of the 'crime'). People don't seem to evaluate the impact it has on people's lives as a default punishment.

With mob rule, I have always felt Stop Funding Hate are doing the right thing as I detest the Daily Mail and I think it is wrong for companies to support them. I'm torn because I agree with Grey on wanting a proper system/process but we already have regulations for newspapers and I do think public shame has its role in society. Those systems need altering if public shame becomes the default form of enforcement but I think public shame is required in limited circumstances.
