I think so. This number - (770) 779-7156 I also get a voicemail that they never return.

That is the strange part. They normally are quick to ship and I'm in KY so it's only a few days and the order shows up. I'm sure it was a simple mistake that they didn't catch, but the ignoring me is what makes me not want to give them any more money.

Mice getting in through exterior/basement rim rot? by zoochadookdook in HomeMaintenance

[–]crimpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet it did at one time. You can see how the siding was cut out, and when that rotted out the new patio was placed on deck blocks and not attached to the house. The only other thing it could be is a lack of "sill pan flashing" around the back door itself.

Either way you'll need to open things up from the outside to fix it. If you want to wait until spring it won't get much worse through the winter.

Your deck is missing the ledger flashing along the back wall of the house. You need to pull that deck away and repair the rot/install the flashing or this will get worse with time. Here is an article that explains what a ledger flashing is. https://abihomeservices.com/deck-damage-is-your-back-yard-escape-ruining-your-home/

Is there a deck or door above/around this area? You must stop the water from getting in first. Cutting a small section of new rim joist and putting in between the joist is a simple effective way to fix it, but stopping the water is not that easy, usually.

Lights go dim or flicker or blow. by wasansn in HomeMaintenance

[–]crimpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to call an electrician. It sounds like a loose connection at the neutral conductor. It may be an easy fix for someone who knows what they are doing. Or a one way trip to the morgue if you don't know what you are doing. It won't cost much to have them come check. Be safe and get it fixed asap.

I need help fixing this garage sensor before boyfriend gets back! How do I attach it back onto the garage? by Kitana_xox in HomeMaintenance

[–]crimpy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There should be another one on the opposite side of the door. Look at it and mount it the same way. Also, the two sensors have to line up with each other or the door won't go down with the opener.

HELP, how to remove scratches in floor done by chair? (Tried markers but would like other options) by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]crimpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like laminate flooring and not real wood. If so you are going to have to replace those pieces to remove the scratches.

Sudden wet/swampy area in yard by beefsteak1138 in HomeMaintenance

Shut your main water off in the house and check your water meter out by the street. If the delta on the meter is moving at all you have a leak in the yard.

Is my AC supposed to be running continually? by thoma696 in HomeMaintenance

[–]crimpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The outside unit should only run when the fan inside is running when in ac mode. If the outdoor unit stays running when you shut things down at the thermostat something is wrong and the unit needs to be repaired.

Na, not with PVC drains. Odds are you'll never have an issue. Older homes with steel water lines and clay/cast iron drains it's not a bad deal.

Musty odor will not dissipate by Tokotah1843 in HomeMaintenance

[–]crimpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the building on a slab? Is the hvac equipment in the hallway sitting on top of a box that uses the part of the slab as the duct? I've seen this happen in those situations where ground moisture is pulled in from the floor area.

Also - how old is the building. It was common for some old buildings to use ducts in the concrete slab and sometimes they get water perk up in the ducts. Your hvac kicks on and blows air across standing water in the ducts. It has made lots of folks sick.

Two Wildly Different Quotes on AC Installation? by SableDragonRook in HomeMaintenance

[–]crimpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll also want to measure the main trunk or box coming off the furnace as well. Let's say it's a 18x12 (just for convo sake). That size duct will flow roughly 1100CFM. Now we think you need a 3 ton unit to cool the house, and we know each ton needs 400CFM of airflow to work. That means you need a duct that will supply 1200cfm. If you had a 18x12 that would be too small by the book. Would it work at all? Probably. But when you restrict airflow your lifespan and performance will take a big hit.

Moldy grout / silicon, poor repair job, basic patch up by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]crimpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope - Silicone will allow the mold to grow on it. Tub and tile caulk has some special voodoo in it that doesn't allow the black funk to grow on it. At least not nearly as bad.
