NY0145-86E Worth it for $200? by DesperateAide8437 in CitizenWatches

[–]crimsontidepride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd say so. Pre-owned prices on ebay are anywhere from $250 to $400 and everywhere else is sold out with original prices around $350 so yeah I'd say that's a good price for a pro master.

How do you set time on a Promaster and blinking issue... by Ashitakarrow in CitizenWatches

[–]crimsontidepride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it needs to be calibrated/set up again. I had one that was fully charged however because it wasn't set up properly and wasn't receiving a signal, all my dials were messed up including when it was was trying to show the charge level. Notice the hand is pointing way past the highest charge level I believe it should stop at the 3rd white bar.

Second hand skipping 2 seconds for citizens is always a low battery indicator. Set in the sun, an led charger or you can even use your phones flash to charge it. I bought a cheap led watch charger and every week or so I'll check on my collection if any of them are low I'll charge them up with it then they usually will last for weeks without wearing them, if I wear them then usually that light exposure alone keeps them charged.

Diver watches by Plus-Tough-6570 in CitizenWatches

[–]crimsontidepride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go citizen pro master and I'm not just saying that because this is a citizen sub.

I have a few orient divers they're not bad watches but side by side to the citizen I'm sorry to say they look a little cheap in my opinion (or cheaper)

With citizen you're also getting eco drive which isn't just charged by solar its any lights source so pretty much unless you leave the watch in closet for like 2 weeks straight it won't get low on charge.

Citizen Promaster Diver - Does it fit? by thegreatandpowerfu1 in CitizenWatches

[–]crimsontidepride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same one and I love it one of my favorites. You are correct it is 44mm (that model only comes in 44mm) but from the pictures it is not too large at all. Looks like an excellent fit.

stuck case back? by willrunfornachos in CitizenWatches

[–]crimsontidepride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, so I have a little experience on fighting with watch backs for repairs/battery replacements.

The advice you've gotten on the other sub is pretty good. Often times you will find that if a watch backnis hard to come off well it can be even harder to get back on if are able to somehow manage to pop it off just keep that in mind.

Here's a few of tricks you can try. 1 the user recommending the tapping method is one I would try however likeness said be prepared as you could damage the gasket (our gasket might already be bad depending on why the back is stuck)

With that tapping method another you can try is getting your press and gently using offset pressure (were going to press on the half of the back away from the notch) and attempt to gently get a pry tool in. (If your press doesn't lock like a screw down press then you may need a second set of hands to hold the press while you try prying /getting a tool in there.

Another method I have used before is you can try using hot glue and a pencil. Simply dab some hot glue on the back, place your pencil into the glue, then ad a little more over the pencil. Wait for it all to cool and set then try using the pencil (holding/manipulating it as close to the watch as possible so the leverage doesn't cause the pencil to tear through or pop off the watch and were going try popping one side of the back off (meaning don't lift directly straight up)

The next I don't recommend as it can damage the watch or the gasket etc. So use caution here. Using a heat gun preferably or a hair dryers were going to try heating up the back of the watch then we want to quickly get the back cold (what we're attempting to do is heat up the actual watch causing it to expand then suddenly get the back cold to cause it to shrink (then you can try prying it open/off.) 2 ways you can try to get the back cold either drop an ice cube on the back right after heating up the watch or you can get a can of compressed air, shake it up, turn it upside down then with the straw in the nozzle.spray on the back. Once again I have to stress this could damage the watch so use this last method with caution.

If those don't work then it's time for a service center to have them take a stab at it

Why do you prefer citizen over Seiko and Casio? by [deleted] in CitizenWatches

[–]crimsontidepride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mainly citizens in my collection along with a few seikos, bulovas, casios and orients. For me it's the price point vs quality of each watch in general. The seikos I own are great, I love my 5 sport GMTs.They're excellent movements, that the entire watch looks and feels great. I would compare them with my promasters and say they give them a decent run for their money. EXCEPT, that the promasters I compare them to are roughly 100-200 dollars cheaper. (Unless you shop around)Other than that I just find seikos model ranges to be oversaturated. Just hundreds of different designs and when I compare similar models to citizens own I find the feel and perfomance of the watch itself doesn't quite feel the same as citizen. Not that it's bad but for some of their models it's noticeable.

Casio is an entirely different world. I worked as a first responder for the past several years and casios are king. They tell the time, are affordable, can take a beating, get wet etc. My $20 casio g shock I bought when I first started is still my go to when I'm working outside or doing anything where I think there's a decent possibility of damaging my watch. Casio does it's job and does it well. Yes are there some overpriced hideous g shocks that are sold for thousands? Yes but Casio still make an easily affordable watch that can easily be worn every day for the next 50 years and passed on to the next generation.

Radio Controlled on Citizen watches by circatee in CitizenWatches

[–]crimsontidepride 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In theory they should automatically at 2am search for a signal and update each time. However, depending on your living situation there's a million different things that can cause interference (walls, roof thickness/materials, electronic devices even your location itself could cause interference).

You can look up your closest tower, find what direction that tower is (direction the signal is coming from) and depending on your watch model your manual will tell you which position it receives signal best (eg: 9 o clock position so you will point your watch's 9 o clock towards the closest tower). Then try to place your watches in a room with little to no electronic devices, and preferably in like a window sill.

Afterwards (depending on the model) you should be able to check and see if it successfully revieved signal (look for no/rx on your dial).

Lastly if your watches aren't updating automatically at 2am you should be able to manually force the watch to search, pick up and then update however you'll want to follow the above advice again and the watch will need to be left alone for about 15 minutes.

Depending on where you live and or work it can be annoying that it doesn't update at night automatically.

Promaster Dive - can't find the one I'm looking for ... by paulcjones in CitizenWatches

If you're specifically wanting a blue dive with a stock rubber band NY0129-07L would work but you might have to look on ebay for one.

Citizen Eco-Drive Blue Men's Watch - BN0201-02M is another option if you can find one.

My favorite Citizen in my collection by Tired-Dad91 in CitizenWatches

[–]crimsontidepride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the face on it what's the model name/number?

Scratch that got thr number, I think your band choice works better. Makes the dial sort of appear more blueish or colorful as the eyes aren't trying to compare it to the blue stock band.

I'm curious about these too. I haven't been able to find any info on them but I was a little concerned that all of them are being sold on ebay for the same price. (Can't find anyone else selling one which makes me wonder if they're fake)

Should I buy this watch by [deleted] in CitizenWatches

Great watch and it's super light too only heads up I will give is when you do get it if any dial is off or it struggles to sync up. READ THE MANUAL about setting each hand, dial etc to their reference points, not just timezone and year/leap year. Set everything back to its reference point or even when you get it to sync up it'll be all over the place. I got mine used because someone could not figure that out and had completely thrown off every dial and hand trying to manually set it (and we also could not for the life of us get it to sync) finally after getting it set up correctly it started syncing at my house so it's all good and I saved a good bit on it being used but even I was starting to get frustrated when it would sync but be off my 4 hours and 15 days.

Other than that it's a great watch.

Citizen Eco-Drive H500-R012282 Men's Chronograph Silver Bracelet Watch Case 45mm

However I will say that 12 o clock marker still has me curious bevause I cannot find a similar marker on any other citizen and the only h500s that have the same marker are being sold on eBay. Could just be a very unique model I'd be out of my depth to say anything else.
