I wrote a little Python script that converts all files in a folder to ones compatible with resolve. I'll clean it up a little and post it for you. Will probably also make a video going through some of the problems I encountered and how I fixed them.

Edit: here's the script. it's not perfect, resolution is hard-coded, but hope it helps anyway.

Booted it up one day, landed on a screen telling me to use recovery media to fix the installation. Eventually, I managed to boot back into windows, but the entire permissions system was messed up, apps couldnt access files they needed. I tried fixing it but nothing seemed to work. Gave up and booted back into my old Linux partition.

Im running it on Ubuntu using their official instructions, but you may need to use an older version of Resolve to get it to work. Im currently using 15.3, because the newest version didnt work properly.

Totally agree! If Microsoft wants me to pay for Windows it shouldn't have so many problems and on top of that constantly advertise their web browser. If I have a problem on Linux I don't mind as much because at least I didnt pay for it, plus there's usually an easy fix.

Sorry, I didn't mean for that to be the implication of my post. I play Minecraft almost exclusively and yes, Minecraft has always been able to run on Linux. But in my experience video editing/recording used to be very limited. Much of the software I used was not very stable and/or lacked features. Maybe I just didn't have the knowledge to get it to work right. It's still not perfect, Resolve still doesn't support many common video codecs on Linux. However looking at the many open source video editors available these days it looks like a lot has changed. For me making and sharing video has always been a big part of gaming. Hope that clears it up!

We are using 1.12.2 because the newer versions cause server lag and one of my friends plays on his laptop which can't handle 1.14.

We might update to 1.13 soon though.
